Full disclosure- this is my second rave review for The Madrones and what goes on there, and no, I am not a paid writer :) I know I will regret singing the praises of this wonderful haven, as I may find I can no longer secure a room one of these days, but I can't help it. My husband and... More

Many people don't know about the guest quarters at The Madrones, but it won't be a secret for long. We stayed in Guest Quarters 2 and it was perfect for the 4 of us. The common room was large with plenty of seating. They don't miss a single detail here, like the coffee, juice, yogurt and fresh granola that was... More

On our visit from the UK we found the Madrones exceeded our expectations with a stylish comfortable 2 bed apartment with very comfortable beds and a delightful rural atmospher surrounding the property. Jim, the owner, was helpful in every way We would book again. Very good value.

This is a very unusual B&B. Remodeled bedrooms with wonderful design touches and antiques, wine tasting rooms and a pizza restaurant on the property, and two more wineries within walking distance. This is a great location to base your visit to the area. We had a great time talking with Jim the owner, got to tour his garden and spent... More

So glad we found this place! The Anderson Valley is a favorite destination of ours and we are always on the lookout for a good overnight stay. The Madrones was perfect. Stayed in room 4, the best in our opinion. Huge and comfortable! Furnishings are non-fussy and very nice. The bed is divine.... we are picky about that! The owner/manger... More

One could easily be put off by the price charged to stay at the Madrones, but the experience is absolutely worth the cost. We had a two-bedroom suite which was very thoughtfully designed and decorated with tall ceilings, beautiful prints, ceramics, antiques, pillows, and oriental tables. Even the assortment of eating implements provided, was unique and beautiful. We appreciated the... More

This is a lovely spot to use as a hub to go wine tasting, walking amongst the redwoods, and visit the coast. It is not a B&B or a hotel, more of a guest suite but we loved it. The lack of maid service is fine for us! The host Jim is readily available to answer questions and has lots... More

We love the Anderson Valley! The first time we visited was years ago when we camped at Hendy Woods State Park with our two young children. After our kids grew up, we returned to the area a couple of times, staying in a cozy one-bedroom cabin not far from the park. As we planned a little get-away after our son's... More

I havenʻt been to the Madrones since the last guest quarters have been completed. But, Iʻve been following the new additions..."Sun & Cricket" shop, new tasting rooms (with great vintners!) and now "Stone & Embers", the restaurant with award winning chef....Iʻm finally able to get some time off to return but itʻs already getting booked up...I guess the secret is... We stayed here recently to visit family who live in the valley. We had no idea what to expect, as we hadn't been in the area for years. The Madrones is a beautiful, quiet hotel. Our room was very clean and spacious--overlooking the vineyards, we felt like we were in Italy. Boonville is a 5-minute drive if you prefer breakfast... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
As seen in Sunset, Food & Wine and Departures Magazines, The Madrones is an Agriturismo style destination which offers just four luxurious guest quarters for travelers who seek something unique and intimate in rural setting. This is not a hotel or B&B, so the service is very low touch...no daily maid service is provided. Perfect for travelers looking for a place to get away without someone hovering over you. If you are looking for accommodations rich in amenities, such as spas, restaurants, room service & breakfast, this is probably not a good fit. Surrounded by vineyards and wineries in the heart of the Anderson Valley, this Mediterranean styled compound which was originally a home and private business has garnered prestigious national awards and recognition. The property has four separate tasting rooms offering local small lot wines, as well as a curiosity store, cheese counter and private gardens. ... more   less
