We stayed twice at the Madrones. The first night we stayed in the Estate Guest Quarters I. I thought it was the nicest room we have ever stayed in. It's only drawback was it's being upstairs. We also had the good fortune that the larger quarters down the hall was unoccupied. On our return, a few days later, we stayed... More

We spent 3 days in guest quarters 1. Lovely! It was comfortable, clean and well appointed. If we needed anything, Jim was so very helpful! We visited many wineries, went to 2 great state parks and totally relaxed. The restaurant was exceptional! A haven in wine country!

A return customer, I always rave about The Madrones. Each time I've been there it has been with different friends or family. The Madrones never disappoints and steps up to and exceeds the high bar I've already set for who's with me. We've been there in 2 different seasons, each amazing. The Madrones is heaven within heaven located in the... More

We spent one night in the newest room, the Garden Suite. It is beautiful with two French doors that look out over the garden. What a view you get from the bed! It's private, comfortable and romantic. The nespresso coffee maker, banana bread, juice, yogurt (with granola to sprinkle on it), is a perfect way to start your day. We... More

The Madrones is a very attractive property with lovely, spacious rooms. Our bed was exceptionally comfortable. We also enjoyed the outdoor areas, which provide tables, chairs and umbrellas for visitors' use.

Once we found our room, we were delighted. We arrived after 6:00PM, so the office was closed. I easily found our room key and directions to the room in the late check-in box, but the directions were hard to follow and there were no signs-- it took us 20 minutes to find the room (the Garden Suite around back) And... The Madrones will be our go-to accommodation in Anderson Valley. First class and very well done, with attention to detail and quality. Great property in a really fun area. Highly recommend The Madrones for a special getaway to unpretentious Anderson Valley.

We recently spent 3 nights at this property in room 3. It was a gorgeous, comfortable & relaxing room with many thoughtful amenities. It was a perfect spot to base a visit to the Anderson Valley wine region. The host Jim was most helpful with winery tour information, restaurant recommendation and a awareness of our needs. The property is going... More

My husband and I recently stayed at The Madrones and the stay could not have been lovelier. We chose Estate Quarters 1 which was very well appointed and beautifully decorated. The room was much larger then the average hotel room and exponentially more charming. Stone and Embers which is located on the property is absolutely fantastic and they feature a... More

We enjoyed our stay there very much though were very disappointed that the restaurant (Stone Embers) was open only on weekends so we were not able to enjoy it. The accommodation was beautiful (over the restaurant - with King bed and beautiful décor). We strongly recommend that The Madrones provide housekeeping in the future and also to make it a... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
As seen in Sunset, Food & Wine and Departures Magazines, The Madrones is an Agriturismo style destination which offers just four luxurious guest quarters for travelers who seek something unique and intimate in rural setting. This is not a hotel or B&B, so the service is very low touch...no daily maid service is provided. Perfect for travelers looking for a place to get away without someone hovering over you. If you are looking for accommodations rich in amenities, such as spas, restaurants, room service & breakfast, this is probably not a good fit. Surrounded by vineyards and wineries in the heart of the Anderson Valley, this Mediterranean styled compound which was originally a home and private business has garnered prestigious national awards and recognition. The property has four separate tasting rooms offering local small lot wines, as well as a curiosity store, cheese counter and private gardens. ... more   less
