Our room was great--no complaints at all, and someone came in and made the bed while we were out, which is really the only thing that we require in terms of 'maid service.' Our only issue, and it is a small one, is that the breakfast was all sugar. The yogurt, the cereal, the banana nut bread (which we loved),... More

Because then too many travelers will book stays there and Philo and The Madrones will be over-run! Cyndee is so welcoming. The gardens are so inviting. The rooms are cozy. There are four tasting rooms on the premises -- each worth a sampling. There is a fine restaurant there, which we would encourage to be open more hours, more days.... More

"We are in desperate need of a getaway.." was heard last week so we decided to head up to the Anderson Valley on our way to Mendocino. On recommendation from a friend who lives in Philo we stayed one night at "The Madrones" The compound, as another reader noted, is an enclave buildings in a Tuscan style surrounded by beautiful... Stayed here for 2 evenings after a 5 day backpacking trip. "The ridiculous to the sublime" is an expression that comes to mind. The Madrones is a delightful guest quarters well worth a visit and the only slightly higher tariff than other hotels in the area.

The Madrones was a very nice to spend our time just outside of Boonville and walking distance to Philo. Architecturally very well designed and a nice eclectic mix of guest rooms and wine tasting spaces. We were two couples staying in Guest Quarters II. It is a large living room / kitchenette with two very nice bedrooms and 1 large... More

My husband and I celebrate wedding anniversaries with three other couples in late June. We have been doing this for over 30 years! We stayed in the "house" at The Madrones, which has four absolutely gorgeous rooms. We celebrated for two nights and had an absolute blast. Cindy was our go-to hostess and made sure all of our needs were... More

This was our fourth year staying there and we love it! We have stayed in Guest Quarters I, II, III and the Kitchen and loved them all for different reasons. The Kitchen was our favorite as it has the private deck and kitchen area. The grounds are lovely and nicely maintained and the rooms are spacious and well appointed. Jim... More

We stayed in the Spare Rooms. It consisted of a sitting room, bedroom and bathroom. The sitting room was about 15 x 15 in size, a small twin bed, hd television with directTV, a wet bar and two comfortable wing chairs to sit in for reading and watching TV. The bedroom had a king bed, side tables with lamps for... More

The Madrones was recommended by a friend. We stayed in the Kitchen, one of four rooms in the old, house, which have all been completely redone. It was wonderful! Spacious, two comfortable beds, a deck and overlooking the pond. It is quiet and surrounded by beautiful, rose gardens. The Stone and Embers restaurant is very good, unfortunately open only for lunch. We... More

Loved our room " The Kitchen" as it was the kitchen of the house now expertly remodeled I toa huge sleeping room with bath, wet bar and private patio. Thoughtful touches include the " breakfast starts" replenished in fridge. Milk and a great piece of banana bread with some good coffee got us going for a day of wine tasting.... More
