If you need luxury, forget it! If you want to be in a unique and beautiful place; have a hot tub on the cliff tops, and watch wales passing by then this is for you.

Late checkin is possible, but call ahead, so you can be left a key. Most rooms have four sets of bunkbeds, and placement is first-come, first served, although you will be assigned to a specific room number in a specific house. Some private rooms are available, although most cooking/computer/TV facilities are in the larger buildings with shared bunk rooms. Hostel... More

Quaint YHA right on the coast. Great for a night's stop while driving the West Coast. Would imagine car is essential for getting to the hostel. Accommodation split into a number of separate external dorms. Staff very friendly and helpful. The one I stayed in had separate games/dining area, fully equipped Kitchen and Unisex shower/wc room. Free wifi inside the... More

My best friend and I are around 24 years old and we went on a month long road trip together out west (we're from Wisconsin). And we stayed a few nights in Cali. One of the nights was spent at Pigeon Point Hostel. We didn't even know the US had hostels until my friend's mom had been told about it... More

A hostel is NOT a hotel, motel or inn. It is like a social dorm- you do make your own beds and there are many house rules, BUT you get to stay at unique places. As far as hostels go, this is a good one- the view is great, the lighthouse is creepy old and the hot tub is nice... More

What a sweet simple place! It's clean, quiet and friendly. My husband and I spent three nights in a double room and we didn't want to leave. Nothing beats morning coffee sitting on the deck over the crashing Pacific. We enjoyed meeting hostelers several countries, and we were lucky that one of them played the piano. We used the hostel... Location and people who run this place (a family) are both amazing, it's a magical place. The friendliest stuff I ever seen at any hostel, and the beauty of the place is beyond description, especially at full moon. I hope to come there again, to that happy place. A lot of interesting people stayed there too...

My daughter and I travelled there for our first hostel experience. I am familiar with the location's pristine beauty, as family members had lived nearby in the 70's-90's. We wanted to stay at the lighthouse, plus we were headed into San Francisco the next day to see a Broadway show. We arrived and parked up the small hill adjacent to... More

I was thrilled when I managed to book a private room here for a holiday weekend. Knowing how isolated the spot was, we packed a Trader Joe's picnic for dinner, and had lunch at Duarte's on our way in. We were a bit disappointed to realize the hot tub is an extra $7 per person to enjoy, and although we... More
