Our room was very noisy, had two doors so double the noise and right off the living room. The noise was right up to 11pm, and then started again at 6am. The beds were very comfortable and the rooms small and quaint. The hot tub was a little too hot, my husband couldn't get in passed his knees. The bathroom... More

Dear Lislam, We are glad you at least got to enjoy the views of the lighthouse and waterfront. We are sorry that your room was noisy that night, but at least they quieted down by 11pm Quiet Time. Guests are supposed to remain quiet until 7:30am, but this is hard to enforce when you have guests who want to depart... More

We had an amazing time during our 1 night stay over the July 4th weekend at Pigeon Point Hostel. To begin with the checkin process was a breeze. There is something to said about the people who manage and stay at these hostels. We always end up meeting some of the kindest and nicest people in the world. They are... More

Wonderful views over the cliffs. The hot tub overlooking the seals was a real treat. Thanks for the very comfy sitting room furniture, a real treat to have such quality. Beds could do with updating. Big fridges and a barbecue area is provided. Also each house has its own picnic table with views over the sea and cliffs.

The hostel is 4 former Coast Guard buildings each with a common living area, kitchen, and bathroom plus sleeping rooms that are either all male or all female or a limited number of private rooms. We stayed in a private room in the Seal building. The interior of the Seal building clean throughout. The one bathroom being shared by about... More

This was the first hostel I have ever stayed in and I had a wonderful experience! My mother and I shared a room with just one other female (six bunks were available). The beds were extremely comfortable and having a bathroom attached to the room was very convenient. All the necessary amenities were available. The staff was amiable and helpful.... More

Dear Ele, Thank you for the kind review! We are so glad you had a great experience! There is nothing better than sitting in the hot tub on the cliff edge and watching the stars while the lighthouse beams rotate over the coast! The good news is: The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) - Santa Clara District Drinking Water... More

The well is too close to the septic field. Although bottled water is provided, beware. Just taking a shower made a person in my group get a really wonky gut. It was old and dingy, but relatively clean and the location is amazing. It is a few miles away from stores and restaurants, so bring your own food and use... More

Dear Traveling Sandy, Thank you for vising HI Pigeon Point Lighthouse. For everyone's information the water is not close or even connected to our septic system. The well has been shut off since 2013. We truck in sanitized water from Santa Cruz municipal and then we treat it again by a paid professional who tests the water and sends it... More

Pigeon Point Lighthouse has something for visitors of all ages. Simply Gorgeous views. Full of history. The beautiful old lighthouse and sealife. While I was there , I found out that there is a connection to my home state of North Carolina. I walked along highway 1 and met other photographers, others that were just enjoying the sights. There are... More

This hostel has been on my list for a while. I got to stay for a night during a meandering long weekend drive from SF to Monterrey. Before I even checked in I got to see harbor seals, dolphins and breeching whales! Holy Cow! The hostel is made up a few outbuildings on a bluff next to the Pigeon Point... More

Easy on the budget and definitely a hostel. Good value for the accommodations. That said, this part of the coast is amazing! Do yourself a favor a bring some firewood to sit outside (in warm clothing!) and watch the stars. Also, wake up to sunrise ... stunning here. Took off a star because the actual lighthouse is in such disrepair.

Thank you Terry! The actual lighthouse tower is in disrepair and is owned and managed by the California Department of Parks and Recreation. They are working with the California State Park Foundation to raise funds to repair the tower and open it up to the public again. Hostelling International supports their efforts.
