My friend and I found this hostel on the hostel international map and decided to stay on a whim. We were driving up the coast via the Pacific Coast Highway and it is right off of Highway 1. The staff were friendly and helpful. They have a hot tub on site that you can use, but you have to schedule... More

Really serene spot. If only all hostels could be like this - waking up to the sound of the Pacific Ocean (waves crashing) and meeting an interesting mix of international travelers (young & old). Be sure to eat at Duarte's Tavern in nearby Pescadero (best sourdough bread ever?). This hostel is Highway 1 at its best.

This property was recommended by a retired senior Canadian couple, and it did not disappoint! It's a spectacular way to truly get away from it all. Staff is wonderful! Clientele is friendly and easygoing, and oh, the view! Refridgerator space is plentiful in the shared kitchen. Beds are well arranged to allow easy foot-traffic. Shared restroom-shower immaculately clean. I did... More

Dear Dunebuggy4, I am really glad you had a great stay! Yes, longer vehicles can park on the side of the road. Hopefully someone will find your wallet and return it to you! I will pass on your positive comments to our staff and especially Julia! :D Jeff Parry, General Manager More

So anyone who frequents hostels knows what they're getting themselves into. You get what you pay for sometimes. This is a pretty bare bones hostel with not a lot of activity going on, but it is cheap and in a beautiful location. Staff is quick and very friendly. Everything is clean as can be, just slightly older than some other... More

This is a very nice hostel, with visitors spread out in 4 buildings, all with ocean views. Each building has a large common area and kitchen, 3 bedrooms, 1 shared bath, and 1 bath attached to the largest bedroom. I stayed here last weekend and my group of 6 took over one of the large bedrooms with attached bathroom. There... More

I did not stay at the Hostel but was able to see the rooms on a recent visit. The rooms are modest and small but very well kept and clean. A better location would be difficult to find! I'm sure hearing the ocean roar helps everyone to sleep. To be able to wake in the morning and have a cup... More

This is a good location with a great view of the ocean, an opportunity for beach walking, hiking and wildlife viewing nearby. I stayed in the dorm which was clean. The kitchen had suitable space for food. Staff was friendly and helpful with directions. There is a current problem with drinking the water but bottled water is available.

Dear Dawn B, I am glad that you enjoyed the view, our Wi-Fi service and the kitchen facilities. I am sorry that you found the room to be too small. The room is approximately 16’ x12’ and with a bathroom attached and a view of the Ocean, it’s often requested by families. Hostelling International USA has Quality Standards regarding the... More

We spent two nights here while on our tour of northern Cali. Our family of 4 had a private room with bath in the Seal house. It was clean and exactly as expected, if not better. There is plenty of drinkable water available and absolutely no worries about taking showers as mentioned in the last review. I found that California... More

There is no doubt that the view here at this hostel was beautiful. However, this is where it stops. We had booked a whole cottage for our family. There were cobwebs everywhere. Spiders on my kids beds. Window sills have dirt that has been there awhile. I understand that this is not a five star hotel so I could look... More

Dear Mbjeni, Thank you for taking the time to review our hostel. I’m sincerely sorry that you had a poor experience, though I’m glad you were at least able to enjoy the view and our friendly staff. You bring up an important and sensitive matter regarding the “Boil Water Notice” issued by the Health Department, and I can understand your... More
