When I first walked, I was worried that the Cardinal wasbgoing to prove to be old and dumpy. How wrong that was! The Cardinal has a feel from the past with the modern furnishings we have come to expect. The lobby is spacious and comfortable. My room wasn't large, but big enough for my needs and had all the basics.... More

The location alone is a selling point for the Cardinal. It's a short walk to everything on the main drag in Palo Alto. I stayed here for a few days on business and enjoyed my stay. Despite the hotel being historic, the rooms were updated and very comfortable. Staff was friendly, even though I only interacted with them during the... More

I have found the Cardinal Hotel staff to be very professional and extremely helpful. This is a very important factor, considering this is a service industry. The hotel management also supports the local community - again that is huge in my books! Overall, the experience with the Cardinal Hotel has been fantastico! Keep up the good work, team! I like... The location is great being within walking distance of all the great shops and restaurants in downtown Palo Alto. We also had no trouble finding overnight parking by using the parking structure under the city hall. The historic ambiance of the Cardinal Hotel is quite charming. We expected to see Gloria Swanson in the lobby. Our room was quite comfortable... More

The hotel staff is great. Very friendly and helpful. The hotel has a great nostalgic feel to it that has been capitalized on. The rooms are small but comfortable and nice. The location is fantastic. However, with no hotel parking you do have to make arrangements for checking in and out.

I'm puzzled by the number of positive reviews as this was one of the poorest hotel experiences I've had. The graffiti that's been left on the elevator was the first sign of trouble. Then upon finally finding my room (there are no signs to help figure out which room numbers are where) it was tiny and without a/c or any... More

The Lobby is SO huge and neat. Like a big 20's era Hollywood era set. The rooms are nothing special, but it's a very neat old building surrounded by sweet shops and restaurants. Parking is a pain, they recommended in City Hall. But otherwise a pleasant stay.

Location: The best aspect of the hotel is the downtown Palo Alto location: in the middle of the downtown restaurants, close to the Caltrain, and close to Stanford. We were able to easily walk or take public transit to everywhere we needed to go. Accommodations: To save money, we opted for a room with a shared bathroom. I was hesitant... More

Like a home to me and my family. Have been coming here for years. Immaculate accommodations, friendly helpful staff, very comfortable beds, great coffee and tea in the lobby, walking distance to all restaurants and shops in Palo Alto. No reason to consider staying anywhere else in this area.

The hotel itself is comfortable and clean, but the staff at the reception was extremely rude and unfriendly. The cafe serving breakfast (next to the hotel) had serious trouble to serve more than a few clients at one time and having breakfast became a complicated issue every morning.
