Perhaps the best souped up motel that I have ever seen. Fantastic looking rooms, great breakfast and oodles of style. Perhaps the most expensive motel I have seen at $290 a night so I guess the two would add up. But most importantly, for me at least, perhaps the worst mattress that I have ever seen. If you prefer a... More

Dear Rahul, Although I was excited to read that you found our rooms and amenities fantastic, I am very sorry to learn that you did not ending up having a good night sleep. The goal of our pillow-top mattresses is to provide an additional layer of upholstery that gives them an additional plush. We find that many guests welcome this,... More

I really enjoyed my stay at the Zen. It is really more like a classy motel than a hotel, but it is very nice. The staff was friendly, the rooms immaculate, and the neighborhood is quiet. The fixtures in the rooms are upscale. Free WiFi, nice HD TV, fridge, micro, robes, slippers, the works. There is a Walgreens directly across... More

Most of the times I have stayed at this hotel the surrounding noise has been minimal. The hotel provides nice touches like free bottled water and a selection of teas and fresh cookies. The shower provides great pressure and I didn't hear plumbing from other rooms.

My husband had major surgery at Standford Univ Hospital and the extended stay hotels were booked. It turned out to be a blessing in disguise. We had one of the kitchenette suites and anything I needed like a cutting board or strainer was cheerfully purchased that day and provided by the lovely staff. The housekeepers were perfectionists and very kind,... More

The Zen is a fully restored 1960's motel. The actual physical structure was saved during the renovation but everything has been fully and thoughtfully restored/modernized. The rooms are super clean with nice sheets, duvets/ down comforters, new carpeting, a good selection of bath products including lip moisturizer with sunscreen; rooms also have a nice balcony to enjoy the breezes. The... More

This is clearly an old motor lodge that has been renovated - but that's ok. They did a great job and really paid attention to the details. Nice linens and toiletries, great workspace, and the unexpected surprise of a back door that led out to a shady little patio area. Like having a back yard on your hotel room! Another... More

Needed a place to stay for a wedding and found this place thanks to tripadvisor. I think people sometimes forget how these reviews work: this is a 5 star review for a 2.5 star property. Could some things be improved upon? Sure, but then it would be more expensive and a higher hotel class. The Zen Hotel was perfection for... More

Found this place thanks to TripAdvisor and thought I'd give it a try on a work trip. Was throughly impressed! Got upgraded to a king "mini suite" as I think they called it. Rooms were very clean and there were amenities galore in the room-- Bath & Body Works toiletries, lip balm, a free mini box of candy, coffee, tea,... More

We stayed here with our two kids (9 & 6) for two nights. The room was spotless and the beds comfy. The hotel seemed fully booked but was still pretty quiet. We enjoyed the hot breakfast included in the rate, which was very reasonable for the area. Will definitely choose The Zen again.

Perfectly fine place for one, maybe two nights max. Decor was nice looking on entry but detailed review noted ripped furniture cushion and backward shower faucet. Otherwise the lame beds will make your back ache. This is not the place to stay if you like somewhat firm mattresses. Lumpy and concave is how I would describe it.

Dear Guest, Thank you for your candid feedback on your recent stay at our hotel.
