We stayed three nights at the Hotel Keen while my husband was at a conference at Stanford. It's a chic little boutique (read: European-style and scale) hotel right in downtown Palo Alto, within walking distance of Caltrain and very close to the campus, shopping, eating, you name it. With only three floors, it's an intimate experience. The hotel is modern,... More

I remember when this hotel was an SRO called the Palo Alto Hotel and I have to tell you these guys have done an amazing job renovating this place into a very cutting edge and "high tech" looking hotel. The rooms are small but I only slept there anyway, loved the grab and go refrigerator downstairs. Staff was very helpful.... More

I think you may be one of the first reviewers who had seen the hotel in its previous incarnation so your booking us on faith is greatly appreciated. I am glad to see that you found the accommodations, services and staff worthy of mention and I thank you for taking the time to share your experience online. I hope that... More

Hands down the best value for Palo Alto: nice hotel rather than motel; can't be more central; great style with food options all around. Will be back many times!

Most of the reviews capture this boutique hotel accurately - great location nestled among great downtown with many restaurants and bars, small but clean rooms, inspired design and extremely good price. For the business traveler, or couple, I don't think you can beat the combination. I'll restrict my comments then to what wasn't mentioned or could be improved: 1. Security... More

Regarding the issue of hotel security, we do have the ability to lock the front door when the staff believe they will be away from the desk for an extended period of time. When the desk is left unattended for brief instancse to handle guest requests the staff are instructed to review the security footage upon their return to make... More

Many of the previous reviews described this place accurately as far as design, space, location, and amenities. It is hard to find a reasonably priced, convevient but comfortable hotel in the area but this one fits the bill. We stayed there over the Christmas holidays and would stay there again. Late one enveing we returned to find that our room... More

Thank you so much for staying with us and taking the time to share your positive reviews. I apologize for that lapse in service but am glad to see that the gesture on behalf of the staff was well received and appreciated. I regret that they could not give you a copy of your receipt upon departure - hopefully it... More

This economical find in downtown Palo Alto is a winner. While gearing up to search for a one-night accommodation in the area, the trusty NY Times decides to publish a review of this place and I was sold. It reminds me the most of the Elements hotel line, with its willingness to dispense with typical hotel components and focus on... More

The hotel has done all it can to be as stylish as it can be at this good price. Some other conference guests were a little alarmed at the lack of a door - only a curtain - to the bathroom. The windows didn't open or opened onto a wall. This was all compensated for by the great service from... More

This small boutique hotel (recently remodeled) is tucked into the business district of Palo Alto. We were attending a Stanford football game and decided to try and find a room at the last minute. The Keen had one room left! Because it was last room, it was the handicap accessible room, so the shower was massive. The room was small... More

Thank you very much for the review. I am glad that you found us and do hope that you return. Too bad about the game (unless you were rooting for Oregon). More

I've stayed here twice for business. It's a gorgeous space, the designer (Orlando Diaz-Azcuy) did a phenomenal job of making the space visually interesting. I particularly like the use of the blue lights along the main hallway's baseboard. Pros: The location couldn't be any more convenient. The free breakfast of pastries, yogurt, coffee/juice/tea, boiled eggs is minimal, but delicious. While... More

Thank you so much for your return visit and taking the time to share thoughts. I did want to point out that we do have many additional amenities available at the front desk: Sewing kit, shoe mitt, shower cap, toothbrushes with pre-pasted bristles, razor and shave cream, ear plugs, q-tips and personal hygiene products - all for free. As we... More

We stayed here two nights and had a great time. Style is modern and fresh. Location is right on the money. Great little breakfast included in lobby. Staff were all welcoming and warm. Beer in honesty bar went down a treat after a night out. Highly recommend if you are looking for a alternative to folksy hotels that abound in... More
