This review is long overdue since we stayed there in February 2008, but since it was such a great experience, I wanted to get the word out about this cool hotel. We had a wedding to go to in Palm Springs and made reservations in 2 places - the Horizon and the Orbit In (which I felt was totally overrated,... more

After several weeks of deciding which hotel to book, we settled on The Horizon Hotel as my first choice, The Orbit In, was booked. I was not one bit disappointed with my second choice and plan to go back and stay again. The grounds at The Horizon Hotel are pristine and simple; they don't compete with the natural surroundings. We... more

We just returned from two nights at the small & intimate Horizon Hotel in Palm Springs. This is a 1950's establishment that was opened in 1952 and renovated in 2006 to retain its 1950's charm. It was originally designed by a famous desert architect, William F. Cody. The hotel alleges it hosted many Hollywood celebrities such as Betty Grable &... more

We decided to celebrate Mom's 85th birthday at the Horizon because we knew it is easy to navigate, is one story and very convenient parking. We arrived there on a day Palm Springs was having one of it's worst windy days. There were palm fronds flying around, trees down - it was a little scary. The staff was wonderful about... more

I doubt The Horizon Hotel in its original configuration was as keenly edited as the present day minimalist oasis of views, shadows and angles. By cutting out the frou-frou the precision of the architecture and the desert-against-mountain location are allowed to shine to the fullest. It is easy to soak up the vistas beyond walls of glass or perfectly placed clerestory... more

The Horizon Hotel is a wonderful historical example of modernism architecture. I applaud that it was restored to its original form. You feel like you have stepped back into the 1950's. Having a private little bungalow is a treat. But you must not look to closely. If you do, you will see that they are not putting much into the... more

We moved out of the Movie Colony (see that review)- and moved in here- Jennifer, was new to the front desk and feeling her way around-she jumped in on a sleepy Sunday and showed us around the grounds and in several rooms- she was sweet and honest, didn't pretend to know it all but really wanted us to stay and... more

The Horizon Hotel is located a bit away from the downtown area, but is still in a good location. I stayed in the King Deluxe room, which has a king bed, sitting area with fridge, and a bathroom with an indoor/outdoor shower. The room was nice, but very basic and did show some signs of aging. The sitting area was... more

My friend and I stayed over New Year's this past year and had a wonderful time. The hotel staff is warm, courteous, attentive and helpful. Our room was stylish but not over the top. The morning breakfast was a nice touch as well as the 24-hr. heated pool and poolside bar. It's a bit off the main drag but still... more

The Horizon is a mid-century jewel with a sophistication for this century. The property is beautiful and well-maintained. The rooms are spacious and functional. We spent two broiling days and loved every minute of it. The staff was great. Breakfast arrived at our room on time. And the pool is lovely. I'd love to go back in high season to... more
