I usually read many reviews before a make a reservation. People have a tendency to over exaggerate how dirty a room is. We stayed at The Monarch Resort, I have to admit the carpet was not 100% vacuumed, there were two spots by the baseboard needed at little more TLC; otherwise the entire room was clean. The breakfast was very... More

We travelled without booking a motel, and it happened to be a very busy weekend. Every place was fully booked, I think we got the last room of this hotel. Funny thing is, that by reserving it via booking.com we got it 50 dollars cheaper that by calling the front desk. The room makes you feel like you entered to... More

Being that the big "O" overbooked us at another property and after a 5 1/2 drive from LA, arriving at your reserved property and being told that there are no rooms, what can one do. The nice lady (Barbara) at our 'reserved' property called and referred us to the Monarch. The night clerk, Michelle, was very cordial and helpful. Got... More

I very rarely take the time to write reviews, but this was an unacceptable standard of cleanliness. Upon arrival, we realized that the hotel was outdated. This wasn't a big deal and I would never complain about this as an issue on its own. However, entering our room was a nightmare. The room had clearly suffered some sort of water... More

We were not expecting a 5 star property at the price we paid but what we did find was a pleasant property with a helpful staff and quite quiet. Perhaps it was time of year but we seemed to be alone much of our 3 night stay. The room was clean, plenty of soap, towels, and shampoo a speedy Internet... More

We just stayed here for a couple nights the weekend of 11/1/2014. It was very affordable, the front desk at night is very nice and helpful and was the highlight of our stay. Yes, the hotel is quite dated, the "breakfast" consists of hard boiled eggs and oatmeal and some donuts etc. It is a little removed from the main... More

This hotel is in need of major updating...mismatched old furniture, torn curtains, dirty carpeting and poor lighting made it an unpleasant place to stay. The continental breakfast was quite adequate but it was served in a small, tacky guest room. Entering the hotel from the back parking lot to the elevator is through the hotel's maintenance and storage area. very... More

This was our first stay (5 nights) and I was very happy with everything about this place. The location was great, the cleanliness & daily maintenance of the rooms was outstanding and the convenience of the frig and microwave was much appreciated. You could tell that this is an older resort, but well maintained. We did not use the pool,... More

Our children live in Pacific Grove so when we visit we look for reasonably priced, clean, and comfortable accommodations. The Monarch Resort has been our choice destination for the past several years. The rooms are quiet, easily accessible and reasonably priced. The location makes it easy to get around to all attractions and the beaches. The resort is well worth... More

My wife and I met another couple at this hotel; they had stayed there on prior visits and we went along with their choice of accommodations. The Monarch Resort is easy to find and there is ample parking around the property. The facility itself is pretty well appointed with a nice (although small) pool in the center of the main... More
