This is a large complex, but you feel like you are out of the main stream. Apparently these are new owners and are doing upgrades a little at a time. The room was large and clean. We had 2 doubles and a fireplace plus a frig at $134. It needed a new rug and the chairs needed replacing, but very... More

Butterfly Grove Inn is both comfortable and peaceful. We stayed for 6 nights and I cannot think of even one negative. If you like to walk it is not far from downtown Pacific Grove and the Monarch Sanctuary is lietrally adjacent to the property. I spent one afternoon reading on a bench in the sun watching butterflies flit by. It... More

We stayed at this hotel 2/20/15-2/22/15. I have stayed here a few times before and it was always a decent hotel in a very good location. It is under new management and they are making some improvements. The room we stayed in was freshly painted and appeared to have new carpet. The beds were good. The grounds and butterfly sanctuary... This nice inn is situated in the Monarch Butterfly sanctuary and it was lovely to see the butterflies fluttering about outside the room. The bed was comfortable, the room was clean, and the fireplace kept us nice and toasty. Breakfast was filling, but could have had some hard boiled eggs or yogurt for protein. The pool and hot tub were... More

Spent 1 night. Location is amazing! It is really right next to the Monarch Butterfly Sanctuary, I've seen butterflies from my window. And there were couple of deers near the office building! Room I have stayed in was spacious, clean, but a bit shabby (old wooden windows, wallpapers,...). Breakfast is very interesting: you could cook waffles with maple syrup by... More

We just spent two delightfully relaxing days at the Inn in late January. The room was large with a fireplace, refrigerator, microwave and a small cooking area. It was nicely furnished and quite clean. Our days were a bit cold so we didn't use the pool or hot tub but they looked very inviting. The Inn is close to our... More

You can't beat the location. Quiet, beautiful tall trees, and right next to the Monarch Butterfly Sanctuary Grove. The new owners are working as fast as they can to make upgrades and address any problems...ie. better sound-proofing of rooms. Very quaint on the outside, the rooms open up inside with high ceilings and gas fireplaces. Convenient to have a fridge... More

Located just off of Lighthouse Ave. in Pacific Grove the Inn is within easy walking distance to the butterfly sanctuary, Pt. Pinos Lighthouse, Pacific Grove Municipal Golf Course and the coastline of the Monterey peninsula. Downtown Pacific Grove is walkable if you have the time and energy. The inn part of the name is somewhat misleding. The property is more... More

We had a wonderful time in November, which is the season of the Royal butterfly migration, and no fog. In July the prices are stepper and unlikely to enjoy a nice coastal weather. This place is at walking distance from the coast, and not too far from the beautiful Asilomar facilities. Enjoyable walk with encounter of deers and squirrels.

We were in the old house, which has lots of character and large rooms. If you want to see the butterflies, it's just a few steps away. The hotel is a little dated (historic, really), but sometimes that's the price you pay for great character.
