Absolutely refreshing experience to spend a few days in this remote jewel of the six rivers national forest. My interest in Permaculture and Sustainable living brought me to cross paths with Sandy Bar. However what we found there was kind and courteous hosts and incredibly relaxing hideaway spot laced with gorgeous views, landscapes, hiking trails and swimming holes on the... More

The Klamath River is located in a VERY remote area of California and the boom years of the logging years have long past. I have visited this area for fishing for over 25 years and you will NOT find modern lodging or conveniences. But for a quiet outdoor experience you will find it great. You will need to be fully... It's been exactly 10 years to the day since we converged on Sandy Bar to celebrate the patriarch's 80th birthday. Family came down from Washington and up from L.A. We took 2 cabins and everyone, from youngest to oldest, had a ball. We never left the place, but why would we? It offered everything an outdoorsy group could possibly want:... More

Our five days at Sandy Bar Ranch were outstanding. The cabins are not fancy but very well equipped and provided absolutely everything we could ask for. If you want to spend some quality time hiking, swimming, fishing etc but want to be able to take a nice warm shower and cook this place is perfect. Cabins have a main room... More

Find this place if you are in Orleans! Not much else in Orleans, except for nature. Comfy, very well equipped cabins. The cabins get hot by day, but cool down for easy sleeping at night. I loved being able to purchase the organic garden produce and other local treats (sausage, frozen meals for 4-6 people). Some decent bicycle riding around... More

We just returned from our 2nd annual trip and we are already looking forward to next year, but we plan on staying for two weeks next time. The setting is very relaxing and is a great escape from living in San Francisco. The cabins have everything we need to be comfortable during our stay, without being too fancy and elaborate.... More

We have been coming here every summer since our first child was born in 1997. We know no better place to completely relax and recharge in a beautiful, peaceful environment. Built from old-growth redwoods in the 1930s, the cabins are simple, clean, and well-maintained. The best feature is the covered back porch where you can spend hours listening to the... More

Located deep in rural Humboldt County, Sandy Bar Ranch is a little gem for those who can look past the funky accommodations and appreciate it's considerable charms. The pace of life in this part of the world is slower, and the service, while warm and hospitable, will likely frustrate visitors who arrive with tight schedules and other city expectations. I...
