You are practically on the beach here and you fall asleep listening to the ocean. The fog is nuts, and watching it roll in and out is a neat experience. The road to this campground is a bit rough around the edges but so worth it. I will definitely be back here.

This place was magical. I can't believe I got so lucky as to find this place purely by accident during a pacific coast highway trip a couple of years ago. I vowed to be back when I had time to camp. My daughter and I came back this year and what. A happy surprise. In addition to being able to... More

I really didn't know what to expect here, but had read rave reviews of this place. When I saw they were now accepting reservations, I booked it for two nights. The campground in directly on the beach, so you can see and hear the ocean. There really aren't any trees in the campground, but the sites are separated by small... More

WOW!! This campground is gorgeous!!!! The sites are spread out so privacy is pretty good. The beach is rugged. It's perfect for an afternoon campfire & cozy blanket time. Definatley get a beach front campsite. They are worth the wait! While there visit fern canyon early and you'll have it to yourselves. It's beautiful and a short hike.

Stumbled upon this place by accident and stayed two nights. From the main road that bisects the forest, turn into Elk Meadow and continue past it down a 20 minute dirt road. There are few places left on this planet that you can go to and camp 100 yards from the ocean. With the redwoods on one side of us... More

What a beautiful location, you come out of the amazing forest to the beach grass and ocean views. The road to get here is full potholes, we really debated on how many nights to stay because we didn't want to drive that road in and out each day. Beauty win out and we stayed 2 nights. Things to know: Very... More

From the moment we drove up the hill to Gold Bluffs campground, it was a magical experience. Surrounded by redwoods (you could literally reach out your window and touch them as you drove by), the campgrounds seem to be enchanted by these Giant trees. When you arrive at the grounds, you set up your camp right on the beach! It's... More

We stayed here for two nights on our recent cross country road trip. It is one of the most lovely campsites I've ever stayed in. It is down a long, winding road that is gravel, which was fine for is but might bother some people. It is also just minutes from the Fern Canyon hike, making it very convenient location-wise... 100' gold bluffs on one side, turn around and the ocean..This is our absolute favorite campground…First come first serve, 8 miles off of 101 on a bumpy dirt/gravel road…The campsites have picnic tables and cupboards to keep food, bathrooms and cold showers, even though they are solar heated. Each site has a fire pit, either bring your own wood or... More

We stayed here for 2 nights and loved it! The campground is back a bumpy gravel road, about 8 miles through beautiful forest full of ferns and big trees. It's certainly isolated, and a solid hour or more drive away from a major town, so stock up before you arrive. There were camp hosts available on and off throughout the... More
