We stayed here in July on our way to San Diego. This is okay for a one night stay. If you are looking to stay longer or require better amenities (t.v., internet, ice) go up the road 14 miles to Independence. Tons of hotels there. The beds were comfortable. The bathroom was small. Bring food. The gas station sells sandwiches... More

The owners are kind but the rooms are tiny, really old and poorly maintained. The beds are old and terrible, cleanliness is questinable. We found many hair in the bathroom and bed, the floor gave us dark feet... My wife got some strange skin irritations, possibly bug bites? Yet this motel is in a good spot on the way to... More

The hotel is a bit run down, but it was featured in a movie called "Bug" with Harry Connick jr and Ashley Judd. They actually made 2 rooms into one for the movie, but if you want to see what it is like the exterior is exactly the same as the movie. Overall it was an ok motel and it... More

While the service is excellent, I can't say the same about upkeep of the motel. Rooms are very clean and tidy, and I was thrilled to see no bugs in or around my room. However, beds seem old and over-used, Bedding had some holes in it, and the bathrooms and appliances NEED updating. WiFi was spotty and the tv barely... More

My two kids and I, and our three dogs, stayed the night at the Rustic on 03-21-14. It was no problem that we did not get in until 11:30 pm. Our room was small, but clean and big enough. It had one double bed in the main room and another double bed in a little bedroom. The good things about... More

The landlady said they'd taken over management the previous Monday. Friendly. Clean room. The swamp cooler wasn't blowing so the room was uncomfortably hot. I'd have left the window open but without a screen anybody could have reached in and unlocked and unchained the door (call me a paranoid single female traveler if you must). The TV had two channels.... More

I'd planned to photograph the Rosewater area on the west side of Death Valley and had made reservations for two nights at the Rustic Oasis Motel. But a recent rain wiped out both roads (Emigrant and Rosewater) that lead there, so I ended up staying only one night. The owner's grandson, an extraordinarily polite and helpful young man who was... Just don't go there: its Bates Motel. Rustic is the game. Although it is a clean room, it's terrible old and not worth 59 dollars! We have stayed in Motel 6 motels for under 50 bucks and they were clean and good. On the other hand, it's close to death valley! We stayed one night and that's more than enough.

We stayed here for 1 night after travelling from vegas through death valley. When we arrived we knew it was going to be 'rustic' but thought that it would be fine for a night. The man who passed the key smelt of alcohol. We were in room 7. The internet didn't work. The bed was so old that when we... More

We took it simply for one reason: It is located on the way from Sequioa N.P. thru Death Valley to L.V. We were the only guests... no wonder why. Really old, dirty, damaged. However, wifi was working, and the lady in the office was friedly... before she left the place, leaving us alone in "absolute nowhere".
