I participated at a retreat, Re-Discovering the Timeless Unburdened Mind. Pepper Tree was very well suited for the dialogues that we practiced in different settings every day. We alternated between beautiful outdoor places around the retreat, giving good shade for the sun and also made use of the spacious meeting room and the yoga room. Pepper Tree is surroundl by... All around an excellent trip. Once of the best experience as far as a peaceful and high quality service. We stayed in their largest suite (Besant Suite) and it had that old rustic feel with 60+ years of antique furniture but all maintained very well. If you are looking for a Hilton type state-of-the-art environment then this is not that.... More

My last trip to Ojai was half vacation, half work. Pepper Tree is always a very relaxing place to stay. Extremely friendly and efficient staff. Love their beds and their hospitality! I've been there several times and have found guests were friendly too.

If you like a true nature retreat that this is the place to be. Wonderful surroundings and peaceful above the morning clouds. Not for everyone since it is dated but this just adds to the charm. A wonderful get away from the hectic city life.

My friend and I spent two lovely nights at Pepper Tree. The staff were very helpful and the accomodation was comfy and clean. Be sure to check out the Krishnamurti Pavilion to learn more about this remarkable man. We had never heard of him and came away with such admiration. The medicinal garden is wonderful too. We stayed in the... More

I made a two-day reservation when all the familiar lodgings in Ojai were booked for the Memorial day weekend. It was a lucky find. The accomodations are in older buildings, but they are clean and neat. The facility is a true retreat, on some acreage in a slightly remote corner of Ojai, with quiet and serene surroundings filled with Pepper... More

Really enjoyed my stay. Thoroughly cozy. Friendly staff. Keep in mind that it's dated, but that's part of the charm to me. Great place to retreat and be in touch with nature. You will need a car to get to town and explore.

Everyone working there was so friendly and the environment was very peaceful I felt like I am amongst my own family. You can hear birds and nature. The location is excellent and I could walk enjoying trees.

We stayed three nights in the Lawrence suite, a cozy cottage with a kitchen, located next to the main house. Very peaceful setting and sacred grounds as the final residence of Jiddu Krisnamurti, the reluctant holy man and great teacher of ancient wisdom. We visited the Krishnamurti Library, chatted with staff and fellow guests, and relaxed. The amazing food and... More
