Our third visit to this great vacation spot. Only twelve units (2 are 2 bedrooms) but vary ample in space. The location right across a narrow street to the sand is perfect for ocean watching and wave sounds. Also a short walk to the pier and main part of town. The staff is friendly and helpful with daily attending to... More

I've stayed here twice, both times in low season during February. I own a number of Timeshares along the beach areas of San Diego County and this one (which I don't own) has the best beach front location. The grounds are kept very clean. There is beach equipment here as well as some books and DVDs that can be check... More

Great location, fantastic little place walking right onto the beach. I love the fact that I can set up umbrellas and a chair with complete relaxation. Well kept and clean, easy access to everything in LA to San Diego which makes this location a awesome. I highly recommend this place if you want a small quaint resort. Love this location... More

This is a fantastic little place, just steps from the beach. You couldn't ask for a better location! The resort is small and well kept. The staff was very helpful and friendly. We stayed in unit #10, which is a one bedroom, that had an ocean view from the bedroom and family room. The furnishings were nothing fancy, but it... More

This is an old-style, but well-kept beach bungalow. There are just 12 units. Having off-street parking is great. The resort information in the room said that the maid was going to enter the room everyday to empty the trash. Although she entered the room everyday, the trash was never emptied. She never did a thing, but she did enter. I... More

My husband and I were there during the week of Memorial Day. Lots of activity at the pier, which was within walking distance.(This is also the place where you would rent bikes). The management staff is very accomodating, printing directions to restaurants, and places we wanted to see. We loved their library of books and movies, and it was nice... More

I've stayed here on a few occassions at the Blue Whale Resort(resort is misnomer, about 12 units here). This time I stayed in a 1br/1ba unit #6. As I stated in heading, the location is awesome, as others have said, you step out your door, walk about 100 ft or less and you will be in the beach sand in... More

A real find 50 feet from the beach. This historic converted small motel (think racedriver Barney Oldfield) has been renovated and made into a charming quiet seaside getaway. Only 12 units but nicely decorated and well maintained. A short walk to the pier and Ruby's Restaurant. Only two units on second floor but all have a sort-of view of surf/sand.... More

I looked and looked for a reasonably price place right on the beach. I didn't want four star luxury, I just wanted a clean quiet comfortable place on the beach. The Blue Whale was great. Marcia was gracious on the phone and in person. Our studio with a Murphy bed was plenty spacious for the two of us. The kitchenette... More

We spent a weekend here with family. This is a little jewel. They take really great care of this place. Everything is spotless clean. Good size rooms with everything you need. Beach is just across a small one way street.
