Recently my husband and I visited the CA wine country and stayed at this lovely old inn. Situated in the pretty town of Occidental, it is surrounded by hills, forest, and gardens--very romantic setting and each room is decorated with antiques. The staff is very knowlegeable , efficient and friendly and the breakfasts are outstanding!--very conducive to a comfortable stay.... more

As it happens, Occidental is not a perfect location as a base to explore the wine regions, being 30 mins drive from a concentration of vineyards in Sonoma / Russian River. Nevermind - its worth the detour. Occidental is a charming little town with plenty of eateries, a funky bar/ pub and an atmosphere that is part blue-collar-small-town-america and part... more

We googled the Inn at Occidental, the web site was beautifully designed and showed the beautiful room selections. When we called to make reso's we spoke with Tina (the proprietress), she was so friendly and outgoing. When we drove to the Inn it is as beautiful on the outside as it is in the inside. The living room is beautiful.... more

My husband and I just returned from 3 nights at the Inn at Occidental and had an amazing vacation. Occidental is a quaint little town, only ~ 10 miles from the coast on one side and Santa Rosa on the other side. Tina, Jerry, and Kristen were super hospitable, always offering recommendations, maps, and directions. We stayed in the sugar... more

We did a bike tour around Russian River Valley area and this was our first stop. After hoofing it up most of the 2 mile incline called Harrison's grade, to end our 27 miles that day, it was a sweet haven! (FYI, we aren't avid bicyclists.) The house was lovely, courtyard fountain surrounded by roses and other fauna. We had... more

My husband and I just returned from 3 nights at the Inn at Occidental to celebrate his 40th birthday. We had booked the inn through Luxury Link, and it was our first time using this site. We were not disappointed! We've stayed at many B&B's and this was BY FAR the best one yet! From the minute you walk in... more

No negatives, not even lack of room tv. You shouldn't want one staying here. Unique room designs, not your typical b&b country/victorian decor. Comfy beds too. Well run by proprietor and assistant. They gave us advanced and mapped day trip itineraries suited to our needs. Great breakfast. A relaxed environment in a unique town. Big thumb way up on this... more

I just returned from 3 days at the Inn at Occidental, one of my favorite Inns. This time my daughter went with me. She was so excited (as it was a secret getaway for her dad and I). She went online and chose the room. We were in the Cut Glass room with a "private" hot tub. Wow! This was... more

Located in the quaint village of Occidental, this inn has the perfect setting for a relaxing stay. It's close to the marvelous wineries of Sonoma county and just a short drive from the beauty of the northern California coastline. The white clapboard main house is entered through a lovely garden with the scent of citrus flowers mixing with roses and... more

This was our fifth trip to the Inn at Occidental. Obviously, the Inn is a very special place for my husband and I. It feels almost like a second home and I would be disheartened if the Inn ever closed or changed hands. Tina and Jerry greeted us warmly and had fresh cut flowers and a handwritten note awaiting us... more
