This hotel was a nice surprise! The bed and sheets were super, the radio / alarm clock has an iPod docking station, and the free breakfast was exceptional! Jack London Square was pretty dead, with most nearby restaurants being expensive. That said, overall I would highly recommend this hotel!

it was a little expensive for the room, i thought. but overall it was fine. the bed was comfortable and the soap/shampoo stuff was really nice. the carpet was pretty old looking and there was a stain on one of the chairs. the back of the bathroom door was totally warped and flaking paint. but the view was great. we... My wife and I needed a room for one night in Jack London Square (Oakland, CA). The two choices we had were this hotel (The Waterfront) or the Jack London Inn. We went with the Waterfront and our stay was fine. We did not arrive until late and we left early so we really didn’t stay in the room for... More

Our between Christmas and New Year's vacation, beginning at the Waterfront Hotel in Oakland, was a bust. There were some positives: the location on the marina, steps to the ferry to S.F., and nice beds. With 2 teenagers and dad needing the "free interenet access," we found that "free," was the speed, (15 minutes) to download an e-mail, then tech... More

I am from the Bay Area but moved away. I visit often and when I do, I prefer to stay at the Waterfront in Oakland. I've stayed there at least 11 times since about 2005. It is affordable, clean, wonderful service, cozy, charming, safe and very accessible to everything (including expressway to San Francisco.) Right where you are there is... More

What a great location this is and the hotel is possibly 3 stars out of 5. 4 Stars if you get a waterfront room (a real one). To be honest though, even the waterfront view is tainted by the industrial equipment and buildings across the channel. The hotel room itself has a nautical theme and wants to be upscale but... More

I live in a decent sized East Coast city near an large Amtrak station. I'm accustomed to trains. At least, I thought I was. Ignore any review that tells you the train noise is not noticeable in rooms on the bay side. It is noticeable, and runs in force from 5AM to 10PM. It's not just one or two horn... More

This is the 4th time we've stayed at The Waterfront HotelminOakland and each time we love it a little more. The bright entrance with multicolored lamps and colorful mosaics welcomes you. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Our room has a balcony overlooking the harbor as well as a fireplace. We were walking distance from the ferry and had a... More

To start out with the bad, the other reviewers are completely correct that the train here runs all night. I don't think it's every 15 minutes, but more like every hour or two during the late night hours. At any rate, it woke me up several times because the rooms are not soundproof. It's not really acceptable, but I'm not... More

The room was very small and had a full size bed . I booked a room with the city view and ended with the valet desk view bed was very small for 2 people and our experience from this hotel is not pleasant. I checked in with another couple and ended with us getting the same room. We checked back... More
