Came to Oakland for a show at the fox theater (exactly one mile away). The employees were very kind and respectful. Katrina, Tatiana, and Chris made my stay at jak London square amazing. After the show at 12am I called the fromt desk to see what resturants were open. Chris came up to my room with a detailed map and... More

This is THE hotel to stay in if you are arriving on Amtrak to Oakland. It is by far the very best choice in Jack London Square. You can walk to the hotel, about 4 blocks. When you arrive at the Amtrak station, cross the tracks and walk to the path near the water. If you want to take the... More

The lobby is inviting but furnishings/decor need updating. Rooms are dated and dingy, with furniture that appears to be from 1981, and it smells like an old room in there when you first walk in - not pleasant. Hallways have really old carpet and it looks like 1971 in the halls. The freight trains run nearby (approximately 300 yards away)... More

What some other folks said in their review is true that certain aspects of the hotel could stand an update/replacement. I'm amazed they haven't replaced the carpet in the hallways; it's definitely stained throughout, but that sort of thing doesn't really bother me. The views are good (with a private balcony with the room). The location is good. However, the... More

Room 356 was a beautiful suite with a completely separate sitting area from the sleeping area. Although it had a full size dining table, there was no fridge or microwave. While this has nothing to do with the hotel itself, it is sad to see so many empty store fronts in Jack London Square, once so vibrant and active. Not... More

The Waterfront Hotel reminds me of a set that was built of a hotel lobby for a movie shoot. You come in, there's a fireplace roaring, it's well decorated and the staff is super helpful. Great! Boutique Hotel at its finest right? So when I got off the elevator, I thought I was transported to the wrong hotel. The carpets... More

I was at this property for a meeting, so I did not spend much time in the room. The food service in the meeting rooms was good and the meeting rooms themselves comfortable. For a breakout discussion people decided to abandon the room and sat outside in the sun by the small pool overlooking the canal; great idea! I believe... More

This hotel was a nice surprise! The bed and sheets were super, the radio / alarm clock has an iPod docking station, and the free breakfast was exceptional! Jack London Square was pretty dead, with most nearby restaurants being expensive. That said, overall I would highly recommend this hotel!

it was a little expensive for the room, i thought. but overall it was fine. the bed was comfortable and the soap/shampoo stuff was really nice. the carpet was pretty old looking and there was a stain on one of the chairs. the back of the bathroom door was totally warped and flaking paint. but the view was great. we... My wife and I needed a room for one night in Jack London Square (Oakland, CA). The two choices we had were this hotel (The Waterfront) or the Jack London Inn. We went with the Waterfront and our stay was fine. We did not arrive until late and we left early so we really didn’t stay in the room for... More
