I like Joie de Vie hotels in general -- friendly vibe and good service. The Waterfront Hotel doesn't have the wonderful zen hoopla and room "stuff"such as robes of the Vitale, for example, but for price-performance ratio you can't beat it. Very nice staff; amazing location that is only going to get more interesting over the next few months and... More

It all began when we arrived at the AMTRAK train stsion in Jack London Square. We called to see if someone was available to pick us up, as it's not the greatest area at night. Their shuttle had stopped running, but they found someone from the staff and wre there in 5 minutes. At check-in, everyone greated us. Thje desk... More

This was a great place to stay. We actually stay there for Spring Break a few weeks ago--it rained the first 3 days we were there. It is a short walk to the Ferry(clipper Card can be used too!) that goes to the city early and last ferry back is about 8:15 pm.Time to eat dinner in the city and... More

This was a great place to stay. The room we got had a nice view overlooking the bay. It was a large quiet room with all the amenities. The front desk staff was excellent. The location, in Jack London Square, is good, particularly if you don't want to drive much. There are several fine restaurants within easy walking distance.

A great place to stay during Strictly Sail Pacific. Perfect location for the show, comfortable rooms, good continental breakfast, and wine and cheese in the lobby in the afternoons. A welcome gift when you join their Joi club, and excellent service.

This hotel and Jack London Square punctured the stereotypes I had of Oakland. From my beautifully appointed Bay View Suite, I could look down at the square, and see the statue of America's first millionaire author, Jack London, who spent much of his boyhood and later years on this very waterfront. The square has a charm all its own --... More

So Jack London Square is a polite name for Oakland waterfront area. If your not an urban dweller Oakland in general can feel sketchy the graffiti, traffic, train noise and general lack of parking doesn't help to change that image. We were attending Strictly Sail Pacific sailboat show and chose the Waterfront Hotel in Jack London Square and we're pleasantly... More

I recently stayed here for a four day business event, and found the hotel to be staffed with friendly, helpful people; the rooms were comfortable and well appointed; and the restaurant was fabulous. If my travels ever bring me back to Oakland, I wouldn't consider staying anywhere else. One tiny thing that could be an easy improvement - I would... More

Pros: This is in a great location, right on the water and is a decent price for the area. It is right next to the ferry over to SF. Old Town Oakland and the Bart isn't that far away either. The staff were friendly and they have free coffee in the morning. Cons: Not far from the train which blows... More

We stayed in Oakland after having trouble finding a fairly priced hotel in San Francisco. We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived at the Waterfront Hotel. The staff was extremely friendly. The hotel room was spacious, clean, the bed very big, with a small balcony overlooking the waterfront. The bathroom was also large and spacious, everything worked perfectly. The hotel... More
