My husband and I stayed at this incredible property during our visit to Yosemite. Short story - beautiful property, incredible rooms, and worth every penny for the wonderful treatment from staff. Long story - I tried to reschedule our trip b/c my hubby had a horrible case of the flu that week. The hotel wouldn't work with me at all,... More

Our experience started at the gate when we were welcomed. Our awe started when we saw the Chateau and continued through our 4 day stay. We were transported to southern France when we entered the chateau. Once inside, we were quickly enveloped in the Chateau's extraordinary hospitality. Erna, the owner, met us and escorted us to the Villa. Chateau du... More

We stayed over the holidays for 4 nights. The best part is the breakfast and the constant supply of goodies from the pastry chef of the Elderberry restaurant. The room outside was large and had high ceilings. The property is beautiful like a village in Switzerland, it even snowed Christmas Eve . Good bucket list hotel.

When we pressed the call button to gain admittance through the iron gate, we were asked our name...then "Welcome Home....drive up to the steps and the butler and maid will greet you." And so it was, with the butler taking the luggage to our room and then taking care of the car, and the maid escorting us to the living... More

Chateau du Sureau-Elderberry House offers true five-star lodging and dining in a most unassuming location. My only worry on experiencing this 24-year old institution was that it might be a little dated or resting a bit on past laurels. My worries were unfounded. First off, Sureau is an inward-facing and cocooning experience. It isn't a resort on a grand scale... More

Lovely evening respite as we traveled [50 minutes from Fresno; 1 ½ hours to Yosemite National Park valley floor]. Gracious staff and gorgeous furnishings greeted us on arrival, soon followed by mid afternoon tea sandwiches in our room and coffee/tea in the library cozing up to the fireplace fire...breakfast included ample choices of fresh fruit, cheese, meat, yogurt, croissants followed... Love coming up here for our yearly retreat. We upgraded our gift certificate to stay in the Elderberry room. It was huge (compared to our past 3 rooms). Love staying here. it is such a treat and so cozy. Pampered from the minute you step out of your car. Erna's, please make sure that if a guest changes a dinner... More

We traveled in July to this amazing property for our 40th anniversary.. We stayed in two different rooms the Elderberry and the Mint with both being lovely. ( The Elderberry was our favorite). While the rooms are great, what stands out is the service from the time you arrive ( They give you tea sandwiches, a small cake, cookies etc.)... More

It was a treat to stay at the Chateau du Sureau after spending time in Yosemite National Park. I think of it like a high end B&B, rather than a hotel since it feels like a luxurious European house. The property features 10 rooms and a very good restaurant, Edna’s Elderberry House. Lovely furnishing, a fireplace, a very comfortable bed... More
