Napa Valley lodging is very expensive and overpriced, and relatively speaking, $137 a night plus tax is actually a budget hotel in Napa, so expect a budget hotel. (Embassy Suites wants twice that amount) Worn beds, noisy air conditioner, dead landscaping, flat pillows and a marginally clean pool and spa, no elevator. But the pluses are decent breakfast choices, free... more

Old and run-down motel on outside, but rooms were clean. Free continental breakfast. Much cheaper than other Napa motels, on north side of town on main Hwy 29 as you enter the winery tour road. Next door is great Mexican cafe, Red Hen. If you're on a budget but want a decent place, this is it. Free wi-fi and pool.... more

I have actually stayed at this hotel three times, and each of those times, I was with a large "business-type" group meeting at the conference centers here. Each time they went on a retreat to Napa, the group chose the Chateau because of its fair prices and property. Many reviewers claim that this "motel" is somewhat run down and not... more

We had stayed in the Chateau several years ago and found it to be clean and adequate. Nothing fancy and quite reasonable. We decided to go up to Napa for one night and reserved the Chateau. Bad decision. The room smelled musty when we got in. The bedspread smelled, and the bed was soft and lumpy. The pillows looked terribly... more

This place needs a makeover. The outside of the building looks shabby & could use new paint, masonry & landscaping. The room size was adequate, but the carpet , windows & curtains were dirty. The dresser drawers didn't quite close & everything looked worn & rundown. The sink's chrome faucet hadn't been wiped off in a long time & was... more

I booked this hotel in error and payed the price (besides the $100 a night). The first thing I noticed when we walked in the lobby to check in was the horrible smell - like very old, dingy carpet. The odor was reaffirmed upon entrance into the room I would luckily only be spending one night in. The carpet in... more

Sleep on the concrete under the highway...it's cheaper and much more comfortable than the beds. This place was terrible. It was the most expensive hotel I've ever stayed at ($211) for one double bed and by far the worst ever and I've stayed at some dives. I was totally drunk from a day of wine tasting and I couldn't even... more

This is an older, somewhat run-down hotel. Why did we like it? Great location, clean rooms and very accommodating staff. While in the Napa Valley, we "checked out" some other hotels we passed along the way and prices were much higher. In high season, we paid $109 during the week, $159 on weekends. If you are celebrating something special and... more

Absolutely the most uncomfortable, cheap, hardest beds I have slept on in over 23 years of travel. Thin walls = way too much noise from other rooms. Small parking lot shared with banquet center and restaurant, no parking anywhere near your room on weekends. Junk still under bed from previous guests, shower did not work, sink faucet leaked and spewed... more

Needed a last minute place to stay for one night after a wedding in Napa. Chose the Chateau because of the price and close proximity to wedding venue. I consider myself somewhat of a hotel snob, but we were satisfied with our stay. Hotel staff was friendly, facilities were clean, and room was adequate. Perfect for our one night stay.... more
