Great location as it is on Main Street and is walking distance to 15 wineries, many restaurants and a wide variety of shops all in 3 blocks. We stayed in the motel portion and the heater did not work correctly. As soon as the front desk was notified they moved us into the adjacent room with a working heater. The... more

Friends recommended that I pass by Murphys, which is a sweet place on highway 4 as it heads for the Sierra foothills. I can't recommend the hotel particularly well however ... The main building is truly historic and the bar is an interesting place to stop by for a drink. It had the atmosphere though of a locals sports bar... more

I would never stay there again. Stayed in the new section in room 306. The Queen bed was more of a double. A very sparse room that was way overpriced. In fact they made a mistake on the phone and misquoted the price when I made the reservation telling me I would get an aarp rate. When i checked out... more

Wow! I was immediately struck by the lovely façade of the building. I could tell it would set the tone for our whole Murphy’s adventure. The lobby and saloon area are decorated in keeping with the era of the building, very cute. Also I noticed an ATM tucked in the corner of the lobby. That came in very handy over... more

The Hotel is interesting and of historic value, but not a good place to spend the night. We had one of the "newer" rooms away from the main hotel, but the noise from the bar (even after closing as the crowd just moves outside) was still loud enough to keep us awake. The carpet, bed spreads and curtains were all... more

Our room was above the bar and it was real loud. We had to keep the window open to have some fresh air because the room was real stuffy. When the bar closed at 2am everyone hung out on the street for a good half hour before they went home. The faucet in the room would not shut off all... more

This is the worst hotel we have ever stayed at. Our room was in the newer part of the hotel. Room #305, what a terrible joke! The room was dark and you could not open the curtains because anyone walking by could just look-in. The dark carpet (it seemed filthy), was very old and should never touch someones bare feet.... more

This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. Our room was in the newer (early 1980's) part of the hotel across from the parking lot. Room #101 is called the Vineyard Suite, what a terrible joke! It was large and that's it. If you are thinking suite in a normal hotel, there might be a few extra ammenties... more

We ran away from our own place, midweek and hoped to get a room in the historic section of the Murphys Hotel, not the newer motel section and we were not disappointed. We were walk-in guests on a Tuesday in the middle of October and got one of the two large rooms with access to the balcony with a rate... more

My husband and I and our college-age son had booked two nights in the original Murphy's over Thanksgiving weekend. Our room was charming, but directly over the bar downstairs, and the noise from the bar kept us awake until after midnight the first night. We requested a room change to their "modern" section which is across the parking lot from... more
