We stayed in The Cottage at the Old Monterey Inn the end of April and had a fabulous experience. The room was wonderful with a small sitting area and a separate bedroom area. The decor was lovely. The outside gardens were blooming, and we enjoyed sitting on the patio relaxing. The breakfasts were great and plenty of food. It is... more

I found the Old Monterey Inn in Karen Brown and "50 most romantic B&B's in N. CA" maybe 20 years ago. We travel often and use Karen's books for all our European travels and OMI is still one of my favorite B&B's. It's an elegant Inn with all details considered from the luxurious linens, to the amazing gourmet breakfast and... more

The Old Monterey Inn was a Wonderful bed and breakfast. I stayed with my husband in April 2008 for 4 nights in the Rookery room. The room had cable tv, dsl internet access, a radio with a cd player, and a fireplace. The innkeeper really paid attention to the details of everything, from the luxurious lavendar soap in the shower... more

I cannot say enough positive things about our stay. The staff was fabulous, the cottage was amazing, the food was great. We had a couples massage- very nice! After breakfast we relaxed in the very nice garden and read books for several hours- very relaxing. we stayed here for our anniversary and it was perfect. Patti is a wonderful host-... more

Based on rave reviews of Old Monterey Inn, we stayed a night on a tour of the area. OMI is very pretty although not deserving of the nearly $400 nightly room charge. We spent a lovely birthday weekend at 5-star Big Sur, then decided to see more than the typical Carmel tourist might, and spend a night in Monterey. This... more

Management response from

All of us at the Old Monterey Inn are always disappointed when a guest is not happy after staying with us. We always try our best to anticipate guest needs and to maintain a high standard. We have someone on site twenty four hours a day for guests to call should there be a problem. We do wish that this...

Stayed here with colleagues as part of a business "off-site" meeting. Inn accommodation very pleasant and ideally placed for restaurants and the waterfront. Not the most luxurious place I've stayed but has a nice ambience and can see that it would be a romantic spot to get away. more

The good: Nicely decorated and furnished bedroom. The appetizer buffet at night was delicious. The service from the kitchen staff was fast and friendly, and you had the option of eating in your room. The homemade cookies all day were great. The bad: I read all the reviews about the stunning setting, and basically found a small garden and road... more

My husband and I stayed for a quick 2 night stay in February, primarily to celebrate his birthday and to just get a break from work. We had the nicest time. Everything was done so well. We stayed in the Garden Cottage and opted for breakfast in the room. Delicious and so romantic. The staff was wonderful and the owner... more

This place gets everything right. Every detail is thought out - from the perfectly-placed roses in the front fountain, to the freshly baked cookies and evening treats. My guy chose this location for a three-day retreat, and I spent the next several days constantly surprised by his job-well-done. If you have time for a massage, take it - our couples... more

We went up for the AT&T Pro Am and couldn't have been happier staying at such a lovely place. It's nestled in the hills and convenient to everything. We didn't know when booking, but the OMI is actually an important piece of local history! We stayed in the Brighstone Suite and loved it. Located on the far corner on the... more
