My husband and I stayed in The Library. It was a lovely room with windows everywhere. Our private balcony was very special as we sat and had coffee and read the paper in the morning. The bed was extremely comfortable and we both slept soundly. And though it was a cozy room, it had a very warm and welcoming feeling... More

We stayed in "The Library", which we thought was attractive and very comfortable - if a little smaller than appears on promotional photographs. We stayed for 2 nights as part of a month long road trip, and didn't really have space for our 3 large pieces of luggage! Breakfast was lovely, although on the first morning it was cool and... More

We are pleased you enjoyed your stay at the Old Monterey Inn, and thank you for sharing your comments! The Library room is a guest favorite, and the only room that provides the balcony overlooking the garden. While many enjoy the comaraderie of the dining room or garden for breakfast, we realize that some of our guests do not feel... More

M husband and I toured Northern California for two weeks and stayed primarily in bed and breakfasts and inns. It is no exaggeration to say that the Old Monterey Inn far surpassed all others during this vacation, as well as many we've enjoyed while on other vacations. The property and rooms are even more beautiful than the pictures on the... More

The Old Monterey Inn is a large home built in the late 1920s that has been converted into a superb B & B. Because it was a house before it was an inn, the rooms can be a bit funky and some of the plumbing dates from too long ago. We have stayed many times over decades. Our first innkeepers... More

This is a lovely and quaint Inn. Our room was elegant and cannot say enough about the staff. They were very helpful and very pleasant. The breakfast was definitely the best we had ever had. The evening cocktail was also very nice and meeting other guests in the living room was also pleasant. We highly recommend this Inn.

I cannot understand why anyone would rate this little gem as anything other than excellent. I had no idea what to expect when I booked on line and as I had paid upfront it needed to be good. I was not disappointed from the moment we arrived to the moment we left we were well looked after. The property is... More

Beautifully restored old house. Every square inch was immaculate. Would definitely like to stay there again. Brittany and Catherine were beautiful and exceptionally wonderful hostesses. The food was incredible. There is not one single thing with which we were disappointed. Do not pass this place up if you ever stay in this area!

I stayed here with my mom during my trip for the Big Sur Marathon. Despite being amongst a "residential" area, you will notice upon entry that the Inn is quite secluded. The property is flanked with large trees, a plethora of flower beds, and carved out sitting areas. You would never know that the street was just yards away….We stayed... More

Exactly what we wanted, and it is exactly what it claims to be - a relaxing, refined environment, staffed appropriately. Gardens and house are magnificent, afternoon wine cheese and crackers in the huge sitting room with fire is very special and a time to meet some other travellers. If you are spending this much money and not in an upscale... More

What a great place! So impressed by the attention to detail, from complementary soft drink to a check out gift. Loved the option of being able to eat breakfast with fellow travellers, we had an interesting discussion about the differences between British and America culture and politics which all served to enhance our travelling experience. Stayed in the Brighstone Suite... More
