Had a very good stay in this hotel. Staff were excellent, rooms good. We booked the family package which included two-day passes for the aquarium and for breakfast in Jacks Resturant - great move!! Totally recommend this hotel

I am a professional in the travel business and stay many nights per year on the road and at major hotels. This was way better then expected, from the happy guys opening the doors to the chambermaids with her candy treat at night, to the management staff nothing more could have been expected. I can and will hightly recommend this... More

We were here for a conference, but also had time to enjoy the sites. A free shuttle picks you up in front of the hotel and drops you off in Cannery Row and in front of the aquarium. You can walk to down town from here as well as Fisherman's warf. Historic Monterey out the front door and plenty of... More

From the arrival, we were treated with a great showing of caring. Valet - The valet person greeted us with a smile, helped us unload our luggage, and took it to our rooms. Front Desk - The front desk was very nice, gave us gourmet warm cookies upon check-in (like Doubletree hotels do), accomodated a request for a late checkout,... More

Stayed here for 3 nights over Memorial Day weekend after winning a Priceline bid. It was billed as a 4-star hotel, thought I'd argue it's only a 3-star hotel. The hotel itself is really no better than a typical Holiday Inn or Hilton Garden Inn, chains we normally frequent, except for having perhaps nicer decor. It really is pretty when... More

The hotel was in a great location in Monterey, but the rooms were very disappointing. The walls were super thin so you can hear the toilet flusing; which was super loud. You could also hear the dogs barking from the other rooms. In addition they put us facing the P's Brewhouse and we could hear everyone partying all night until... More

I brought a diverse group of 36 people from GA and all enjoyed their stay. All felt the service was great and the rooms were outstanding. We travel all over the US and the Portola was hands down the best accomdating we had stayed for the price we received. Would highly recommend for a group, family and/or individuals. Georgia Aquarium... More

Portola Hotel is a great hotel with caring and attentive staff. We stayed here for a vacation/wedding for 4 nights and had a great time. Everyone is nice and the room service dining is excellent. The location is pretty much the best. You don't have great views of the ocean since you are couple hundred ft away from the ocean... More

The Portola Hotel is in a great location for families. We had adjoining rooms with Grammie and Grandpa on one side and our son, daughter-in-law, and 4 and 6 year old granddaughters on the other. Our granddaughters are Fancy Nancy fans, and they were impressed with such an elegant hotel. The entry atrium is beautiful, restaurants are nice, and the... More

The location of the hotel is excellent for it's proximity to all the attractions visitors visit Monterey for. There are great walking / bicycle paths and plenty of benches available to rest a moment if needed. Room service is speedy and the food delicious and nicely presented. The staff is outstanding - friendly, courteous and professional. We have tried a... More
