We stayed here as a family for 2 nights at the end of August. Yes the rooms are basic with no frills but they were very clean. Having read other reviews I was scared to look at the state of the bed linen and towels. I needn't have worried. The free breakfast was a bonus. You had to collect your... More

We stayed here while on a trip north up the coast. The hotel is easy to find and right by downtown monteray. The rooms were very clean and the staff was very kind. They offer a free breakfast which is always a plus. Nothing fancy but definitely would recommend and stay there again!

mattress uncomfortable. door chain lock broken. poor cleaning. no bathroom ventilation. undersized bath towels. No pool or spa. continental breakfast bad. Housekeeping did a poor job cleaning. The bathroom lacked ventilation. The bath towels were undersize. No pool or spa. The toilet wouldn't flush properly. Not worth $360 for 2 nights.

I stayed here for one night and quite honestly, it was terribly horrific. So bad that I could not rest. I have never in my life ever had to deal with such a run down DIRTY room. I could go on and on.. To start, the room stank really bad of febreeze and something they were obviously trying to cover... More

Good "value" for an otherwise outrageously expensive town. Clean rooms, friendly service, and free breakfast in the tiny closet sized lobby in the morning. Rooms are very well worn - like from the 70s, but with a new paint job...

Originally booked 3 nights at another hotel which turned out to be horrible. Booked here immediately after and was so relieved at the result. Front desk was so friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good with changing options including muffins, pastries, toast, cereals, fruits, yogurts, granola bars, juices and coffee. Location is great, within walking distance to an upscale shopping center... More

The hotel itself is okay - you get what you pay for. I'll start with a compliment - I forgot my iPhone charger for the weekend, and the lady at the front desk kindly lent me her charger for two nights. That is good service. What is not good service is opening up mail that was directed there to me,... More

Management which took over in December 2012 is great...after checking in found there was no TV channel guide and upon calling the front desk they brought one within minutes, vs other hotels I've stayed at wherein similar situations prompted me having to go get whatever myself. Rooms are spacious and very clean especially, the all important bathtub. WiFi worked fine,... More

If a portion of your stay is business related and internet connection is crucial for your stay, then this is NOT the place for you. Additionally, it looks like Facebook has been blocked (through their wifi connection). So, if connecting with your client base via social media is important, then another place is highly recommended. If you just need a... More

We're ending a two night stay in Monterey. We've had a good time. The hotel, while older, is good enough for us. We don't need to spend the money for a five-star room. The hotel is clean, the bed is comfortable, and it was quiet both nights. The staff was extremely cordial and did all that they could do to... More
