Place has a very nice room, large bed, fireplace, big bathroom. Maid service was excellent. Say they have continental breakfast but only consist of coffee or orange juice and one packaged danish roll so not worth getting out of bed for just always went and found breakfast at cafe when decided to get up or bought stuff and had breakfast... Becasue there was a race at Laguna Seca, this motel charged us $250 a night. Yes you read that right! This is a BASIC room...not a fancy hotel. This was a great place to stay while visiting the Monterey aquarium (and attending a graduation at UC Santa Cruz). The room was very spacious with two queen beds (bigger than the double beds) which worked well traveling with a child. While the hotel lists as serving breakfast, dont really count on it, there is no breakfast only packed danishes.... More

Place is pretty gnarley if you get past its polished facade. Our mattress was stained with what seemed like a large amount of blood. The toilet rocked when sat upon. The tub filled with other rooms water when they showered. Location is great and is a short drive from everything. Staff is friendly (Dave ostensibly pretty funny and helpful). Pricey.

Friendly and very helpful staff, the bathroom was recently remodeled nicely. The room was not fancy, but more importantly, very clean. Can’t wait to come back to Monterey, will be staying here again.

New management is working hard to make their guests happy and comfortable. King bed was great and the fireplace was a big surprise. Since its on a timer, I kept it running while in the room. In the winter, the front office is only open between 8 am and 10 pm. If you are checking in later, you need to call ahead, or if you want "breakfast", same situation. This hotel has a great price, clean, friendly staff and the room was large with a king size EXTREMELY comfortable bed and a fireplace! Don't pass this up!!
