We booked a room for the weekend of the Moto GP at Laguna Seca at an outrageous price thinking this was going to be one crowded place to stay. When we got there, and for the remainder of the weekend, the place was less than half full. Lone Oak Lodge took full advantage of a popular weekend in the area... more

What a find! My sister booked three rooms for a family quick overnight trip to the aquarium. I was shocked by the price--just $66 for a double room (tax included). The place is old school motor inn, but well-loved. The outside is very cute and immaculately kept. The rooms were very clean and well maintained. The mattresses were very comfortable... more

When we travel we usually stay in chain hotels, but this time being first time travelers on the California coast, we decided to stay in small AAA recommended motels as we went South along the coast. We were looking for reasonable rates, ease of getting to local attractions and an included breakfast of some sort if possible. At this particular... more

Lone Oak is along motel row on Fremont St., away from the center of Monterey but close enough to drive to within minutes. The motel provides good accommodations and comfortable beds in a large room. There are many dining options nearby, especially in Seaside, only a short distance away. The rooms were clean and housekeeping was good. Our only complaint... more

This place reminded me of the movie Identity with the single story set up. I was just glad it didn't start raining like in the movie! The exterior is well maintained, but the property must date back to the 1950s with some of its trim in the bathrooms. We were given a smoking room because they ran out of non-smoking... more

We went there over presidents weekend, no problem checking in. Staff is friendly and helpful. It is a basic motel, but clean and accomidating. We are scub divers and go there because of the convienience. They have a staging area to rinse your dive gear, and big hooks to hang your suites. They have cable tv, dvd and vcr player... more

Two of us stayed in this lodge during late Dec last year for one night stopover at Monterey for Pt. Lobo and 17-Mile Drive. Disappointed, this was my worst stay among the six accomodations throughout my 17-day tour in California. Although it's not totally the lodge's fault but i wish they have better soundproofing door. The loud door slamming (which... more

We stayed in the King room under the Diver's Rate. For the price, this is a great hotel. This is not a luxury hotel, so don't expect a lot of frills; they don't even offer a wake up service (but we should all know how to set our alarms..). They cater to divers here; three large rinsing tubs in a... more

This is a great motel for the money. Rooms are spotless and cleaned well daily (walked in on our housekeeper during the middle of our stay and she was scrubbing the floor on her hands/knees...and no, it was not that dirty that it needed it). The beds are VERY comfortable feather beds. Furnishings are dated and you won't get all... more
