Close to downtown Monterey, Aquarium, Fisherman's Wharf, Cannery Row, airport. Not far to Carmel, easy drive to Big Sur. Rooms clean, average, staff pleasant. We had quiet room at back corner on creek, hardly knew anyone else was there. They could update their DVD movie collection. A bit more variety at breakfast would be nice, had to take tray of... This was a last minute gateway to Monterey Peninsula, and unfortunately most of the hotels were booked at the time. As a result, we had to settle for what was available. Based on availability, we chose the hotel with the most positive reviews, and that was Colton Inn. To be honest with you, I really don’t know how this hotel... More

Highly recommend staying here in the Old Town of Monterey. Pleasure to share our sense of humour with the lovely people there. Even the moustached maintenance man was a great laugh. Would syay here again if they would have us. Great culture. Large Rooms. Easy to Park. Even the fosset worked on the shower! I would guess that in the... More

A bit on the outskirts of downtown Monterey but a lovely friendly place to stay. We were lucky to get a room as the AT&T Pebble Beach Golf event was happening and many golfers were there. The check-in with Ellen was delightful she couldn't have been more helpful! Got our AAA discount also. Lobby offers nice selection of fruit and... More

Good sized room, great setup with table and 2 chairs (plus a desk and another chair). No soft comfy seating, thus 4.5 not 5 stars. Lighting great for a motel - easy to figure out, plug-ins for recharging computer or phone. Very quiet, very solid construction. This is closer to Best Western quality than to La Quinta (those are the... More

Comfortable rooms and some very helpful staff members, along with a location that is deceptively close to the town centre, make this a very good place to stay, and we'd be happy to stay again. There is no seating for the complimentary breakfast, but the food provided is quite adequate and there is no problem to take it to your... More

Thank you so very much for your stay! It was our pleasure to serve you. I do apologize about the seating for breakfast, I'm sure in got lost when we checked you in but, we do have tables set up in our back deck area next to a great little creek. Sometimes a little chilly but most of the time... More

We stayed here one night before continuing the drive down the Pacific Coast Highway. It is a motel style holel with a good parking space. The staff was helpful and welcoming. The room was large, the bed comfortable and the breakfast selection was very wide. The outside seating area could not be used due to the weather that day, but... More

We had driven into Monterey after a day of driving up Highway One from Paso Robles. Good hotel for a quick visit - wouldn't stay there longer. Needs updated, but overall room wasn't bad. Short walk to the Fisherman's Wharf and restaurants. Breakfast was surprisingly good, although there wasn't any room in the lobby to eat.

From the descriptions, we expected more of a boutique feel. It was not. I booked through Expedia, and was treated like a second class citizen. All my inquiries or requests were curtly denied. Room was small, but clean. Happened upon a street fair as it was New Year's Eve. Great location to walk to pier and restaurants. Seemed safe. Won't... More
