Pros: location (but lots of other options in the vicinity) and acceptably clean Cons: almost everything else - I stayed here a few times back when the place was new and found it a simple accommodation, but a good value; all that has changed dramatically! It is now a place in need of a major overhaul. Amenities were spartan (itty-bitty... more

We got the family suite. It had two rooms on the top floor. That was nice considering some of the reviews that complained of noise. This is a hotel that needs some updating. Everything is a bit dingy and old. But the beds were comfortable and the kids loved that they got their own room. It was also VERY affordable... more

we stayed 4 nights during spring break. the inn's facade looks a lot better than the rooms - everything was mismatched. however, the important thing to us was the beds and sheets were very comfortable, and room was clean. the boards creaked every morning when the folks above us were up (around 7 am!). would really have liked a microwave... more

We stayed in Room 205. Gabriel was the gentleman at the front desk and gave us room 205. The room was a 2 queen size bed, clean and affordable ($129 + tax per night). I had access to only one outlet that was so worn, the plug wouldn't stay in. The only other avl outlet was in the bathroom. This... more

When we pulled up outside the Otter Inn, having once again read about it in teh Lonely planet, it didn't look quite how we imagined. It was a bit strange walking into the small reception area straight from the car park and then catching a lift up to our room from the car park - did all seem a bit... more

After reading some of the other reviews, I was ready to cancel our reservation, but decided to give it a try. The staff was exceptionally helpful, and other than comically mismatched bedding and a slightly worn bathtub, everthing was just fine. The beds were comfortable, the room was very clean, and the location was great (we did not need to... more

location, location, etc.....otter inn is a great monterey location, sitting right above cannery row, on the rec trail that connects to pacific grove and fishermans wharf...cant get much better in monterey. now, naturally, if you want a place for about $110 a night in such a great place, you get a more basic accomodation with some other limits. we got... more

We stayed there in September 08 during a week-day. We got a king-size room for $99 + tax. The room was rather small, but the bathroom was very nice. The room included high speed Wi-Fi and complimentary snacks (don’t eat them all... some are supposed to be your next day’s breakfast). The hotel is very well located, there is a... more

My wife and I booked a stay for my 40th Birthday....3 days before our scheduled check in date, my wife became violently ill with stomach flu, vomitting and a whole lot of other symptoms. It was clear we would have to cancel our trip, which included a long drive to Monterey from our home in San Diego (9 hours). Knowing... more
