Pluses: Location is nice. Long walk to the aquarium, shorter walk to the wharf. Beach across the street, with the mini-mart/gas station in between. Yes, you can hear the seals at night, which is nice. Affordable. Minuses: Beds were completely broken down. Mattresses slanted on one side. Carpet filthy and room very musty. Smokers on walkway outside the door allowed... more

I had a really mixed experience in the this hotel. Location is perfect as you can walk to all the attractions from here and its so close to the beach you can hear the Sea lions barking at night. The staff are really friendly and extremely helpful, nothing seemed too much trouble. The room was a let down though. Firstly... more

I was very impressed by the Monterey Bay Lodge. I wasn’t expecting much at this price: $150 for a King Fireplace, but what I got was a very spacious room, flat screen TV, free wifi, sliding doors out onto the lawn facing the pool. I was sorry to stay here only one night. Everything was very clean and there was... more

This was our second choice hotel in Monterey, but after the first told us that we would have to change rooms for the second night in order to get their best rate, we called the Monterey Bay Lodge. It is not super fancy, but it is clean and the staff is super friendly and helpful. The best thing is that... more

My husband and I stayed at the Monterey Bay Lodge over Labor Day weekend and were very impressed. We like to stay in clean, quiet hotels that are comfortable but not luxurious - we're pretty casual people. The room we stayed in had a very comfortable king bed and a great fireplace with a patio that opened up onto the... more

Staying with 2 adult sons, we booked interconnecting rooms which worked well for us. Very comfortable room, quiet and well looked after. Excellent breakfasts at the attached diner . Lovely pool and hot tub - so clean and surrounded by beautiful gardens. Really close to beach and ocean. Handy for all of Monterey's attractions which helpful staff had great knowledge... more

Initially we picked this motel for the pool and location next to Dennis the Menace Park. We were disappointed in the room as it was cramped and the bath shower stall was so inadequate for bathing kids under the age of 5. Each of our children had to be held up so that we could rinse them under the stationary... more

Dear Guest, I am so sorry that you didn't have a pleasant experience at Monterey Bay Lodge because your room didn't have a bath tub, but I am glad that you enjoyed our location being across from the Del Monte Beach & Dennis the Menace Park. More than half of our rooms do feature Bath Tubs and if there is...

My wife, eight year old son and I stayed for two nights at the Monterey Bay Lodge and enjoyed it thoroughly. My son was very taken with the lovely pool and his own little room with bunkbeds. Our room was very clean and comfortable with nice amenities. The location is great: right across the road from the beach and a... more

We stayed one night at the lodge during our trip along the coast. I would probably classify the lodge as an hotel/motel rather than bed&breakfast as it is quite large, run as a normal scale business and as breakfast is actually not included. The Monterey Bay Lodge is located just at the north-eastern entrance of Monterrey, facing the sea. The... more

My daughter, twin 7 year old granddaughters and myself stayed here for two nights on a recent trip to go to the Aquarium. Larry, in the office, was an absolute sweetheart to me on the telephone while making my reservation and answering ALL my MANY questions. He was just as nice in person when we checked in too. The place... more
