This hotel has a good view over the river and a nice patio area at the back. Also, room 20 has lots of space and a nice balcony. However, the other rooms are not so nice, especially the rooms in the lodge which are pretty small and don't get much light. In my opinion the food was pretty ordinary and... more

Service was just okay in restaurant. Waitress seemed to forget us for periods of time even though not very busy. Food was fair and over priced for quality, taste etc. Just not very good. Restaurant and hotel seemd dated , location right on the river is very nice more

I have been going to the Village Inn for the last 35 years. It is and has always been a magical place situated right on the river in a beautiful old growth redwood grove. The most recent owners, Mark and Phillip, have done a wonderful job remodeling and fixing the inn up. The restaurant is excellent and the ambiance simply... more

The Sunday BBQ is not worth the money . . .the BBQ'd oysters were so small that the yellow jackets that hovered constantly ate more than we did! The shared main course of jumbo shrimp was nice but the skewered vegies were tired. The peppers were not even seeded and the side eatable garnish was dried out and old. I... more

I read some of the negative reviews after I booked here and arrived apprehensive with reservation confirmation in hand ready to be disappointed. Boy was I surprised. Don't know where these other people stayed but it could not have been here. It has a spectacular setting over the river just isolated enough to be quiet yet within walking distance of... more

It was obvious they cramped as many people in as possible. Mandatory $100 per couple before tax drinks tip. Overpriced, poor service, average food, could have gone to Denny's. more

This Inn was great. My husband and I stayed for a romantic getaway and it was perfect. The food at the restaurant was wonderful - and the wine list is amazing! The service was great - they are very attentive and personable. The room was comfortable and had a really lovely view. A very romantic and cozy spot. more

Food was horrible, I'm sure I could have found a better meal in the dumpster behind McDonalds. I hardly ate anything we ended up getting out of there as fast as we could and went to the road house cafe in guerenville for desert and coffee which was really good. Reading other reviews i can confirm that the place smells... more

I wish I could write a review of the Village Inn in Monte Rio but they said we hadn't made a reservation!!! Very rudly I might add. I told the person at the desk that I had made the reservation on March 3, 2007 for the nights of September 17 & 18 and the room we had reserved. He was... more
