I only wish I could have had a private room. The views are breathtaking! It was my first time in a hostel, and it was a great place to start. The people were helpful, the facilities and kitchens clean and the meditation was interesting.

There are high end hotels that cannot boast such a location. From up on the cliff, I could see and hear the waves were crashing outside my window, with no obstructions. I stayed in one of the private rooms which can sleep one to two adults and probably one or more kids. Mind you, it has less floor space than... More

This is a great place....amazing hostel, amazing landscape, amazing people.....everything about this wonderful place is to be recommended....do yourself a favor and visit. I stayed in the Women's Dorm room, lovely....showered with the window open so I could watch the surf below....couldnt be better and there is no other place along the coast with these incredible views. Plus the weather... More

I was in the area on business and preferred to stay at this hostel instead of motel room. I stayed in a dorm room all three nights and slept well. The common rooms were large and comfortable with beautiful ocean views. On one of the nights this area was over run with several young families using both kitchens to make... More

I had stayed here back in 2002, and came back with my family this time around. This is a unique accommodation option, not much like anything else. It’s a bit on the Spartan side (they provide you with a set of sheets for your room and ask you to return them when you check out), but staff was very friendly,... More

This was a really fun experience. We took public transit from Berkeley which I think I'd opt out of in future for a rental car, but it was super cheap and accessible. The hostel was cosy, we stayed in a double room. It was fine. Small, cosy. The one issue in terms of service was that we were accidentally given... More

We stayed at this hostel and it was very pleasant. The property is in a beautiful location right in front of the ocean, and it has some amazing views. The property is in great condition, very well kept. Loved it!

We needed a place to go for the 4th of July and knowing that most everything was going to be booked along Highway 1 we decided to give this hostel a go. This was my first time in a hostel and the experience was short of fantastic. The dorms are separate for men and women so I had a heavy... More

Our stay here was a great way for our children to explore the coastal landscape and to appreciate sustainable tourism - the hostel is eco-certified! The hostel hosts were very accommodating and the place was clean, secure and family-friendly. Fitzgerald Marine Reserve is hiking distance to the hostel; there you can explore amazing tidepools. Half Moon Bay is nearby -... More

My family traveled here for a family reunion. We were coming in from different parts of the country, and there were 22 of us all together. I can say, without going into tons of detail, that we felt that we were met with hostility and a nasty attitude from the moment we walked in the door, as if we should... More

I was disappointed to read that you didn't enjoy your stay with us. It is always my hope that each guest will enjoy their time spent at HI-Point Montara Lighthouse.
