Yes, it is from a different era (the 1960's) and yes, it is not pristine - but thank goodness a place like this still exists for those looking to exhale from the insanity that San Francisco has become. The staff and the guests are just completely real and isn't that refreshing.

We rented two domes for a special occasion. Both were cozy and quiet. Quiet is a decisive factor for me in choosing a place to stay, and these domes had a sound muting effect that was very effective. The rooms are enormous, much larger than a typical hotel room. Our rooms were each uniquely decorated with a king-sized bed, antique... More

I had booked a massage and facial at Harbin Hot Springs since we were staying at a timeshare nearby. I knew about the clothing optional policy and it was OK for me. I did not mention this part to my rather shy husband, until the ride to the hot springs. He took it well but said he would still wear... More

I agree with many of the other reviews - it's a beautiful nature-oriented setting, relaxing, nice facilities, good healthy food, and I enjoyed it. It also helps going in knowing what to expect, and I did my homework. But I was still not prepared for the very uncomfortable sexual vibe at night in the warm pool. Since when does silent... More

I tried to book a night for my wife's birthday, by the time she'd get up there on a Friday night it would be very late and she works early Monday morning so she can only really do Saturday night. They have a 2 night weekend policy and when I asked the first person they referred me to a manager,... More

I stayed at Harbin over the Thanksgiving weekend, with a girlfriend of mine for a couple of nights and loved it. This was my second visit but the first was a number of years ago. I love Harbin Hot Springs for its wonderful nature setting combined with the opportunity to receive a 'Watsu' treatment, which is one of the most... More

a retreat in its every form. natural hot springs, yoga, beauty, deer, wild turkeys, lovely community, good food to eat. a place to just step off the world for a bit. it's quaint and rustic. just go if you never have tried this sort of this...so anti-commercial, it's awesome!

After northern California declined as a vacation spot, this old resort location was reborn in the 1970s as a new-age retreat. It has mellowed out now as a popular alternative resort for the San Francisco area, with activity still centered on the pools but ample opportunities for yoga, massage, and many variations. There are also a restaurant and cafe, nightly... More

I visited Harbin Hot Springs a few times when I was younger and it was not really my cup of tea. However, my most recent visit changed my perspective and I had a great time. I stayed for three days and really settled into the place. ACCOMODATIONS: They were sold out of rooms on property so I stayed at the... More

We cannot vouch for the accomodation, but the atmosphere at the pools is an experience to say the least. The silence in the main hot pool is probably best appreciated after the fact. It took me 2 trys to get into the hot-hot tub, and was forunate to have someone willing to take me for the cold plunge - WOW... More
