The Merced Travelodge is a typical low-budget hotel. The best aspect of the hotel was its desk staff, who were extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms were reasonably clean, although one of the beds had bird droppings on the blanket (see photos). The free breakfast that the hotel offered consisted only of juice, watery coffee, oranges, and small muffins. The... more

We checked in around 5pm on a Saturday night. Manager was very helpful and prompt. Room was clean, and everything was in good working order. We left the AC on all night, and heard no trains, cars, etc. Bed was a bit too firm for my liking. Parking lot is a bit small if you have a huge truck, but... more

Last week we stayed here, despite bad ratings from 2006. I was surprised that the room was really big and clean. The next morning we were ready to move on to Yosemites and I asked the manager about the change. Apparently there is now a new owner, the whole new wing was built to accomodate two beds non smoking type.... more

Very clean... smelled like flowery soap when you walked inside. The a/c was cold. The room was kind of small, but they made very good use of the space. The room that I stayed in seemed to be an old apartment of some sort that they had remodeled. The light inside the tile shower didn't work, but wasn't really necessary.... more

We were looking for a place to spend the night just before entering the south gate of Yosemite. I booked it on Expedia - it was rated 2 stars; not great but should be OK. When we arrived we found something not shown by the photos put out by the motel. This is a very old single story motor lodge... more

Spent a night here visiting my son who goes to UC Merced. We have tried other local hotels in the past and found them adequate. This place seemed ok until I woke up the next morning and found that there was NO HOT WATER. I had to pack and get on the road. When I went to the office, the... more

We weren't expecting much from this place. Afterall, we'd spent the day at Yosemite and just wanted somewhere to sleep before moving on. We were quoted $55 on the internet for a room with two people. Because there wasn't a king bed / 2 queens option, we thought that a twin would be part of the deal. We ended up... more

Compact motel about 90 minutes from Yosemite's Arch Rock entrance. Small bath and closet space. Small parking lot, so it'll be a squeeze for larger vehicles. This motel is on the direct road to Yosemite's Arch Rock entrance, but not on Merced's small motel row. This means you'll have to drive a bit for meals and general shopping. The renovated... more

Well, be sure you ask for the NEW section as the OLD section of the motel is horrible. Since the ad verbiage simply states that all new rooms, remodeled, blah, blah, blah - I had no idea, until I checked in for 1 night - that I was booked in the old section. I paid an additional $35 and was... more
