Cost-effective place to stay when visiting Stanford University or SLAC. Rooms small and paper-thin walls. Decent breakfast is included in the price. Interesting mix of folks staying here - if you plan to work the night shift and sleep through the day make sure you ask for a quiet room.

Recap: For many years this has been my go-to place for Stanford visits. Room: The rooms are somewhat small and with basic amenities at a 3star level, but very clean, comfortable and hard to beat Palo Alto prices. Location: The guesthouse is located on Stanford's large campus within the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory area. During all my visits, I have... More

As others said, the rooms are extremely small but I would say still suitable for 2 people if they don't mind being cramped. The bed was very comfortable and the room quiet. The hotel is out of the way and there is nothing nearby (another reviewer said 15 min walking). Free shuttles provide easy access to campus (either hotel shuttle... More

I would definitely stay at the Stanford Guest House again. The room was super quiet and comfortable, but very small (I had read some of the reviews that said the rooms were small, and I would definitely agree; I think it's fine for one person, but with two it might be a bit crowded). The view was pretty nice. The... More

I spent five nights at the Stanford Guest House while attending a nearby conference. It was a great hotel: clean, decently-well appointed (I didn't find it as austere as other reviewers), and at a perfect price. The complementary breakfast was good, the shuttle service into Palo Alto really useful, and the Marguerite shuttle provided great connections into the university and... More

As noted by other reviewers, rooms (1 queen) are very small. But they are nicely furnished with excellent bed linens and a very comfortable bed and perfectly fine for one person. The space would be too cramped for two. The hotel itself is a bit out of the way but the new Starbucks in the parking lot helps. Breakfast is... More

So first of all, you have to be affiliated with Stanford in order to stay here-- alumni, parents of a current student, patient at Stanford hospital, etc. If you need to visit the Stanford campus for any reason, this is the best priced hotel close to campus. The shuttle even picks up at the hotel and goes to campus, but... More

This hotel on the grounds of SLAC is a no-frills, basic accomodations enterprise. The cost is much lower than many basic motels in the Stanford area. Each morning they provide a simple breakfast of fruit, hard boiled eggs,an assortment of breads/muffins, and oatmeal. The rooms are clean. The pre-fab showers in the corner of the bathroom were a little off-putting... More

I stay here when visiting SLAC. It's very convenient when visiting the lab. The accommodation is pretty basic, the rooms are small but have all you need. The staff are very friendly and the rooms are clean. Breakfast is simple but adequate. Now there is a starbucks just outside, decent coffee is available. The complimentary mints are very moorish!

To sum it up, 1) Don't expect a luxury hotel chain, but it's a basic nice-and-clean hotel serving Stanford community with free shuttle bus to the campus and hospital, w/ breakfast, and wi-fi included. (You must have Stanford affiliation in order to stay there.) 2) It's located inside the famous SLAC - quiet and secured. 3) Good value for the... More
