We chose this property because it was dog friendly but would be pleased to stay with or without Kate. The grounds are extensive and make for nice evening strolls or it is a quick walk into town and incredible ocean views. The rooms are large and comfortable and eclectic. None of the blah average hotel stuff here, thank goodness. Breakfast... More

Hill House is well named, for it is located on a hillside within a couple hundreds yards--easy walking distance--to the heart of Mendocino. We travel with our dog, who was not only tolerated but openly welcomed. Our room and beds were very comfortable. We had a sliding glass door that we were able to keep open to the distant ocean... We were delighted to find out this property existed - it is a closely guarded secret right behind the "Boot Hill" City Cemetery. A Wide Selection of Rooms - Reservations STRONGLY recommended. We made a second visit a year later, the same wonderful experience. Lots of facilities for Fun, Business, Kicking Back. Limited activities during the off season (Breakfast is... More

We've stated here at least annually for the last few years. It generally meets or exceeds our expectations. It is uniquely situated - very close to the highway and the center of the (small, wonderful) town. But it seems remote from whatever traffic and bustle exists - isolated on a large, hilltop property. Five minutes from "downtown", and quick access... More

We got a good deal $100/night thru hotels.com. I was nervous after reading some reviews and then once I got there, I thought it was charming, clean, antiques (really neat old rocking horse, camera, furniture).Very pretty property, decent view of ocean, dog friendly as I saw two people check in with dogs. The room: Our room did have ocean view,... More

We stayed room 224 with ocean view no balcony. Looking at pictures on the website we were expecting more style/ charms... room clean but very 1960 , tube TV with a very small screen. Ok for one night but . Can't say I would go back.

We stayed at the Hill House Inn on the last night of our driving trip up Highway 1 in late December. On previous nights we stayed in Pismo Beach (2 nights), Carmel (2 nights) and Bodega Bay (1 night). The best value we encountered was the Hill House Inn. Attentive staff, large room, good bed, quiet atmosphere, decent continental breakfast,... More
