For many vacationers, Mendocino is off the beaten track. For those who don’t mind some winding roads to get to this fabulous North Coast oasis, the rewards are great. Walk around the bluffs west of town and you will enjoy views that will take your breath away. A delightful place to stop for a night or longer is the Hill... More

My husband, our 2 dogs and I stayed here over the Thanksgiving holiday. It was a good option for us, not too expensive, allowed dogs and close to town. While the room was a bit worn and the bathroom floor was a bit squishy, we enjoyed our stay. Don't expect much from the continental breakfast, but the dining room has... More

This hotel close to Mendocino looks very promising as you arrive. The lobby and public areas are quite attractive, and it looks like someone's old home. Unfortunately, it needs some updating and maintenance. The room was clean and comfortable, but the building outside looked worn and in need of a facelift. A decent breakfast was provided, but in an odd... More

We approached the lovely gardens and Victorian architecture with hopeful eyes. As we entered the lobby these hopes were shattered. The room smelled of age and there was sand in our bed sheets ( we did not put it there). This place has seen better days and I would highly recommend NOT bunking here for the night despite the low... The hotel is located off Highway 1 in Mendocino. Very quiet location. There is a small cemetery nearby so if that kind of thing bothers you, then look further into town. The hotel staff is very friendly and helpful. Never had a problem and any concerns that I did have were immediately handled. The room was clean and very large.... More

The Hill House has seen better days; in fact, it is up for auction due to bank foreclosure (signs were posted on the front door). It is up on a hill remotely east from the water with few views. The best thing to do is stay somewhere else and go on Saturday nights for the live music and dancing (the... More

No sea view, no garden view, no garden. No restaurant. Room was not a bad size but the bed was like sleeping on the floor. Sheets didn't fit the bed. The tub mat was moldy. Wallpaper in bathroom peeling. Receptionist grumpy. Oh, and don't lose a door key because replacement cost is $50 per key.

We checked in here yesterday afternoon on our trip up the coast. It was $120 per night with a slight ocean view and a gas fireplace. The room looks like your grandmothers house and was almost clean. A used Kleenex was left on the floor and a few hairs on the bathroom floor and a cotton ball behind the coffee... More

This inn is well located over a hill next to town, yet away from its heavy pedestrian traffic. The Victorian cachet of the lobby and of the comfortable large room (#202) is worth a booking. Not the advertised sea view, limited to a small angle looking to the sea a mile away, the rest being an unimpeded view of a... More

We loved it all, the elegance, the view, the history, the location, the room (#204), the breakfast room and chapel, the service, the setting...Highly recommended! Easy to walk into town to stroll the shops and eateries.
