This lovely B&B, set in the picturesque, very dog-friendly town of Mendocino, CA is a a great get-away, with or without a canine companion. Gorgeous breakfasts prepared by Dixia, their French-born chef, and happy hours in their elegant drawing room. In such a setting, it'd be easy to feel stuffy. Just the opposite. The staff and owners couldn't have been... more

Elegant, comfortable, nurturing, fun, and totally relaxing, we stayed in two separate cottages, as the first one (with a terriffic hot tub and sauna) was rented the second night of our stay. We were upgraded (at no extra cost) to a lovely cottage behind the main house with an amazing feather bed! My wife doesn't want me to rave too... more

I recently went on a "girl's trip" to Mendocino, CA, where we stayed at the Whitegate Inn. We had booked their auxillary spot, which was very nice as well. We also booked massages and horseback riding, both of which were enjoyable. Mendocino is a magnificent spot to visit-very picturesque and actually very economical. The trip from San Francisco is about... more

Ordinarily when I'm on the road I hurry on without sticking around for the breakfast at the leisurely time of 9. This time I had the chance to do a couple of hours work before breakfast and found poached pears to die for, a wonderful hot coffee cake, and the main egg course was not too cheesy or dry. I... more

The feather beds and linens they have are sooo comfortable. Breakfast ,though a bit early (9am) when you are on vacation, is worth getting up for: homemade breads, fresh fruit and a souffle. What a treat. I would recommend this Inn to my friends and family for their stay in Mendo. The Inn is also walking distance to everything. more

This charming, homey Victorian Inn made me feel right at home. Richard and the staff treated me and my dog like family. They aimed to please and made every effort to make my stay a pleasurable one. Rooms are clean, comfortable, and beautifully decorated as were the dining and living areas of the Inn. Spent plenty of time relaxing on... more

We took advantage of their off season rates even though we knew the weather might be rainy. After reading the positive reviews we booked the Violets Room for two nights. No surprises, as we expected the room small, and the bath tiny. The towels were plush, bright white, & fluffy, and the robes soft. Our room was cozy after lighting... more

We often head to Mendocino when we want to get away from it all. The Whitegate Inn is the best value for moderate to upscale lodgings we have found. From the inn, we can take a short walk to several good restaurants (955 Ukiah is our favorite, and right around the corner), or take a longer hike along the beautiful... more

Mendo was the first leg of our trip down the coast. We had heard conflicting reviews about the town. Some said it was fun, others said there was nothing to do. Ended up being the latter -nothing to do unless you are from San Fran and like to shop in overpriced boutiques. Not to mention the local teenage loadies hanging... more

We had booked a room at their second location, called Abigail Bed and Breakfast. At this location, dogs and small children are allowed. For us, this was not the case. We are a family of 2 adults and 3 young adults and I had booked Abigail House expecting as their website stated "A spectacular two story two bedroom apartment with... more
