This accommodation was just beautiful. From the extremely fine bed linen and the lightest duvet I'v ever slept under to the Keihl's productd and welcomebottle of wine to the wonderful breakfast and friendly staff and last but not least the tasteful decor, everything was just great. We are not really fans of B&B but in JD house you could take... more

We initially chose to stay here not because we wanted to go to Mendocino but because this place looked great on the internet... and it didn't disappoint us. It is very expensive but very tastefully decorated, comfortable beds, beautiful breakfasts, great location and fantastic bathroom "freebies" - Kiehl's lip salve, shower gels, etc! Very upmarket! We were staying in the... more

My boyfriend and I stayed at the J. D. House for one night. We arrived after hours so the staff had set up a drop box for our key, which was great so then we didn't have to rush to make their 6:45pm check in. Our room was Kit's Cabin, which was the cutest room I have ever seen! It's... more

We stayed in the Starboard room for just one night and I wished we had more time. They really cater to all of your needs. The room was perfect. Really nice bathroom toiletries which is part of the reason the price is so high. Breakfasts were good, served in the main room of the house, which is really the only... more

Very nice little B&B. Stayed in the Raven Room. It and the Osprey Room are on the 2nd floor and have the best views of the bay. So if sitting on the deck with a brandy enjoying the view is important to you - that is the room you want. Room is small but very cozy for a romantic getaway.... more

John Dougherty house is one of many small bed and breakfasts in Mendocino right along the ocean. We stayed in the "Captain's Room," which was a quaint country cottage. The breakfast was not what you would expect in a BB offering only scones and a sausage role, some fresh fruit, and coffee. I was expecting more of an egg breakfast,... more

John Dougherty house is one of many small bed and breakfasts in Mendocino Village. Adequate, but nothing fancy. We did have a wood-burning stove in our "Captain's Room," but overall the room was small, with cheap carpeting, out of date (though clean) bathroom, and only a partial ocean view. The breakfast was good but simple (scones and a sausage role,... more

Pros: - beautiful room, very modern and the jetted tub was just AMAZING - big enough for 2! - super comfy bed with pillow top and down comforter - VOSS water supplied in room! - beautiful gardens, we couldnt stop taking pictures - very balanced breakfast with home-made quiches and scones. my husband rates the scones as one of the... more

The John Dougherty House was everything I hoped for. Beautiful, decadent, comfortable. I wish I could have stayed longer! While it isn't an inexpensive place to stay, you definitely get what you pay for. A lot of other B&Bs I looked into probably would have also been wonderful but one reason I chose JD House is the decor--which is modern,... more

We stayed in Raven room for two nights during our silver wedding anniversary trip from the UK. The room was everything I had hoped for and more. The styling was elegant, the bed extremely comfortable. We had lovely sunny weather, if a little cool in the shade, and were able to enjoy the glorious view from the deck while we... more
