First, the good news: Pet friendly - at least in one room. Reasonably priced. Decent location (right next door to lovely Cafe Beaujolais.) Historic. Wifi included. Now the bad news: Breakfast is mediocre at best. Our room was grimy. Window needed propping up. Bathroom was extremely small and not pristine. It could use a major reno. The host/owner was snarky... My husband and I stayed here for one night in November. We chose this place because it was one of the only B&Bs in Mendocino that will allow you to stay for just one night (most require a two-night minimum). Our stay wasn't bad, or great. It was just fine. The inn is located in the downtown area which makes... More

Very small room and quite expensive. Building in need of repairs. Windows and doors rattled all night due to a moderate wind. Breakfast was good but not exceptional. Good location. Street parking only which means you may have to carry your luggage a fair distance if town is busy. One night was okay but would not recommend for a longer... More

To be fair, this is one of the more affordable places to stay in Mendocino. It was also very conveniently placed next to our dinner reservation at Café Beaujolais. We stayed one night in September on our way to San Francisco and paid $130. We arrived at around 5.30 pm and found our room key tacked to the office door.... More

Mendocino is a great place to visit, but not inexpensive. This is one of the most affordable stays but nothing exceptional. Our room was small, clean and had 2 comfortable chairs as well as the bed, armoire, and writing table. There was a musty smell, but the house is over 100 yrs old...... The wifi did not work in our... First, let's say that it's better to stay in Mendocino than Fort Bragg. The village is more authentic and quiet, with great views of the ocean and no sprawl of modern buildings hemming it in. There are some good restaurants too. But Mendocino is very expensive, and there are not as many places to stay. This does not mean that... More

Pro- 10 yards to the best restaurant in the area, Cafe Beaujolais. Con- Too small a bed. Too high. Tiny bathroom. Non spacious room. Hoped for more, my mistake I guess. The man by the counter never introduced himself. Grunted at us while coming to breakfast, then on our leave regarding an ill working credit card, making sure he knows... More

Spent 2 nights at this inn. Room was clean and comfortable. Good bed. Property could do with some TLC but same could be said about many small establishments. This is an old property and has a certain charm. Really cannot fault the breakfast. Choice of meats, cheese, fruit, scones, toast, fruit and cereal. Lovely. This is a small town so... More

I will try to be as fair as possible here by sticking to the facts… When my friend and I arrived at the B&B we were given the key to the room and told ‘Use the key in the top lock only’, which we did. Turns out the bottom deadbolt had a thin strip of cellophane tape across it on... More

Thank you for you comments JoanBCalifornia, Yes, it was an unfortunate situation and probably not one of our better moments. I will respond to your comments as you presented them, also sticking with the facts. I was called at home around 7:30 in the morning, just getting out of bed. Brent, the innkeeper, was in a state of panic because... More

Not the best B&B I've stayed in, but not the worst either. The location is pretty much perfect, but I guess you can say that about almost all B&Bs in Mendocino; it's not exactly a big place. The inn itself felt a little in need of some tlc in terms of decoration, paintwork etc. Our room was upstairs and, because... More
