We were expecting a great experience in Mendocino. Unfortunately, this B&B did not provide what we expected. Upon arrival, over an hour past advertised arrival time, we were told that our room was not ready for us. The manager asked the cleaner when it would be available. After she responded with 30 minutes, he told us it would be an... More

We arrived at Nicholson House late in the evening after a long drive up the coast highway from Emeryville. We called ahead as we were nearing Mendocino and received easy to follow directions to the B&B. Our room was upstairs and was very nicely decorated with vintage furniture and a large comfortable en suite bath. There was a step up... More

Nice Bed and Breakfast Inn. Great location, you can walk to the ocean, and walk to town easily. Beautiful gardens. Clean rooms. Owner was nice. He had great recommendations of activities and places to eat. Nice cozy place.

The Nicholson House Inn is a reasonable, comfortable place to stay in town. It's not uber chic or cloyingly sweet, just decent rooms and offerings that are much more reasonable than other B&B/hotel options nearby. The breakfast offerings are ample and include: cereals, fresh fruits, yogurt, bagels, cold cuts, cheeses, hard boiled eggs, and homemade scones. Coffee and juices are... More

My wife, because of what she heard when she lived in Germany, though Mendocino was a special place that had to be seen. Unfortunately she was disappointed. Also disappointing was the Nicholson House. It's quaint but that's about it. Every time I tried to use the toilet I would hit my head on the ceiling because of how it is... More

We recently spent a two night stay at the Nicholson House Inn in Mendocino. When searching for a B&B I was more concerned about reasonable price rather than luxury. The Nicholson House seemed to fit the bill. We had reserved the standard room (very small and upstairs) and were upgraded to a suite the second night, at no additional cost.... More

If you can cast aside the Hotel experience and accept that you have to ring the bell on a converted garage and wait for the owner to appear then you are ready to relax in the comfort of this homely B&B. NO TV. NO TELEPHONE. COMFORTABLE BED AND QUIET. Yet it is a walk from the main shopping area with... More

We arrived on a Friday night without a reservation and a big whale festival going on! The volunteer at the visitors' center helped us find this place. We got room . Think they could do a better job with the toiletries but the towels were fine and the room quiet. Breakfast was ok-not a big cooked affair that I have... More

First, the good news: Pet friendly - at least in one room. Reasonably priced. Decent location (right next door to lovely Cafe Beaujolais.) Historic. Wifi included. Now the bad news: Breakfast is mediocre at best. Our room was grimy. Window needed propping up. Bathroom was extremely small and not pristine. It could use a major reno. The host/owner was snarky... My husband and I stayed here for one night in November. We chose this place because it was one of the only B&Bs in Mendocino that will allow you to stay for just one night (most require a two-night minimum). Our stay wasn't bad, or great. It was just fine. The inn is located in the downtown area which makes... More
