We have been going to Mendocino annually for 30 years to escape winter in the Northeast. This was our first stay at the Blue Door Inn. The inn was formerly the White Gate Inn and has been extensively and beautifully remodeled in contemporary style. High ceilings, beautiful floors, soothing colors and lots of light (loved the skylight at the top... More

Nan is the perfect hostess and Innkeeper. Breakfast both days were creative, delicious, and huge. Also, fresh, local, and organic! The furnishings were simple, tasteful and high quality including Frette linens and towels as well as Kiehls products. Nan also knows wine and spent many years in the industry and really helped us learn Anderson Valley varietals - the area... More

We stayed here for two nights in October. We enjoyed the delicious breakfasts and the wine and cheese that was served each evening. Our room was a lovely room on the first floor with a gas fireplace that we enjoyed each evening. The Inn is within walking distance of restaurants and some lovely gift shops.

From my first contact - calling after the (admittedly early) check-in deadline to secure an after hours check-in, I was incredibly well taken care of by the Blue Door's always-friendly hostess, Nan. She runs a beautiful property that's a two block walk from the main street in Mendocino. The room was incredibly beautiful with every comfort: Kiehl's bath products, bottled... More

My wife and I stayed here for two nights in October and we loved it. Steven is a great guy and the breakfasts that he prepared were incredible. We also enjoyed relaxing in the living room area in the evenings with the wine and cheese that he offered. It was a great time to meet other guests and share recommendations.... More

The Blue Door Inn is as impressive as it's website suggests. Recently refurbished in a contemporary style that tastefully compliments this historic Victorian building. We were fortunate to stay two nights in the Buckingham which is their premier room. It was superb from the massive king-sized bed to the spacious en suite including jet tub and separate shower. Unfortunately, Steven,... More

I spent more than I usually do for a B&B, but it was worth it. My wife raves about it, and says it was one of her favorite places to stay on the trip. The room was impeccably furnished with fireplace, high quality bed, 2 person shower, widescreen TV, etc. The most amazing thing was the gourmet breakfast. I'm sorry... More

We stayed for 3 nights in September - celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary in style. The inn is simply stunning, we stayed in the Buckingham mini suite which was light and airy, very large running across the whole of the front of the inn, exquisitely furnished with a sitting area and a gorgeous bathroom complete with jetted tub. Steve was the... More

Unlike many Victorian style B&Bs the Blue Door is both contemporary and comfortable. You can walk all over Mendocino from the inn. Even with that proximity to restaurants and shops, the inn itself is very quiet. Steven could not have been a better host. And he cooks a delicious breakfast. We hope to return to The Blue Door Inn.

Ok so we had to go up to Mendocino for the music festival - (who wouldn't want to see Jorma even if Jack was unable to make it). Where to stay, where to stay?? with so many bed and breakfast choices in Mendocino, we chose the Blue Door Inn based on Tripadvisor of course!). To say we were glad we... More
