I don't know which is more troublesome: the poor quality of the vacation house or management's lack of responsiveness. The following email was sent to both the inn's Reservations Manager and General Manager with no reply in three weeks from either. "I am writing, unfortunately, to express my group's disappointment in the quality of accommodations provided us at the Ocean... More

In past, I have alway stayed in a coastal cabin when in Mendocino, but this time opted for the MacCallum House at the recommendation of a friend. Most coastal lodgings requre a 2-night stay...sadly not possible this trip. We stayed in a MacCallam suite just up the hill from town, a small walk away, and enjoyed quiet, breathtaking views of... This is our second visit to the MacCallum House. Our first visit was five years ago, also for celebrating our anniversary. On our first visit we stayed at the suites which is about a 1/8 mile from the main property. It is easily walkable back into the main part of town. On this trip we decided to stay on the... More

We stayed in a Suite about 2 blocks away from the main building. It was large, quiet and comfortable. A great place to get away from the city life. There is not a lot to do in Mendocino other than look at the quaint shops and rest. (Oh and eat, the restaurants are very good)

This place is not cheap but you get what you pay for in this case; very attractive accommodations in a great location, with professional service, a great restaurant, beautiful gardens and a most attractive town on the central coast. The architecture of the inn and the houses within the town are a photographer's delight. It was fun to run up... More

What a beautiful, quaint place to stay. Right in the middle of town, walking distance to the bluffs and great food. Our room was big with a gorgeous view of the ocean and private patio. What more can you ask for.

From the attractive nineteenth century Victoriana cottage and outbuildings to the delightful garden surrounds, first impression of MacCallum House Inn lives up to the promise of their website. Unfortunately, the experience is less fulfilling. The good: charmingly presented and well located in the centre of Mendocino. The rooms, although reasonably well-appointed and comfortable, vary considerably in size and amenity –... More

My husband and I just LOVE coming up to Mendocino and staying at the MacCallum House every chance we get! It's such a great getaway from the hustle and bustle of the East Bay area. The town is charming and Sarah, the manager of the Inn is wonderful! Oh! And the eggs benedict can't be beat!

Way over-priced for room with no amenities to speak of. No heat in bathroom; rusty shower bar; filthy carpeting in room; ; furniture odd and seems to have come from Salvation Army; roar of kitchen exhaust fan constantly providing dull din in our room. Rude/disinterested staff to boot. Definitely would not recommend, especially given their prices.

I will start with the positive... I have stayed here twice -- both times in the property on the hill (and unlike some reviewers, we really enjoy scouting around the cemetary and getting to know its occupants). The best (and frankly only excellent) comment I can make is that the mattresses at this establishment are SUPERB. Best sleep I've ever... More
