We did not stay here, but had dinner. I think that the best way to describe our experience is that it was an amateur effort. The owner, who had to serve that evening, was as nice as could be, but her attempts at baking (bread and pie) are not good. Neither of our entrees, prepared by an unnamed chef, were... More

We are very sorry for the disappointing experience these diners had. We agree that the chicken was undercooked. We offered to cook it again, but at that point it was late and the guests were clearly unhappy. We had a very difficult evening as a whole, with both our servers calling out and me (one of the owners) waiting tables.... More

Last month my wife, 15-month-old daughter, and I stayed at the McCloud Inn. The owners were welcoming to us immediately. We had hoped to dine at the inn's restaurant that evening. Alas, our daughter was jet-lagged and unable to stay up past 5 pm. I told one of the owners about our need to cancel our dinner reservation in light... More

We spent two nights here just a few days ago and enjoyed it very much. The owners Robert and Nancy are very welcoming and personable. The hotel is very comfortable with lovely gardens and many places to sit outside. There are many nice touches that show the owners really care about the guests' experience and comfort. For example, a note... More

I usually don't stay at bed and breakfast hotels, but this experience changed my mind. The owners, Nancy and Robert, were very friendly, helpful, and service oriented. From the minute we checked in it was obvious that they wanted to make our stay something special. The hotel is very old and charming, the rooms were clean and well equipped (for... More

This place was fabulous. The owners, Robert and Nancy were both wonderful and helpful. The food was superb, the decor was period but not fussy and the gardens we're lovely. The room, we were in 206 was spacious and very comfortable. We peeked in a few others as we wee checking out and they looks equally lovely. The breakfast was... More

We enjoyed our stay here, breakfast was delicious, the room was spacious and comfortable, and the very small town is quiet and scenic, set with eye shot of Mt. Shasta and driving distance to Burney Falls and Lassen National Park. Our only disappointment was encountering a conference of Iranians from Orange County, who meet in McCloud each year. They were... On our way to a week at Eagles Rest, we had a delightful experience with our one-night stay at the McCloud Hotel. Nancy and Robert are wonderful hosts and provide hospitality that makes you feel at home immediately. The lobby library is a cozy space with piano music on selected evenings. We made reservations for dinner and 3 out of... More

We stayed here rather than at a big chain hotel in Mount Shasta. Boy, are we glad we did. For the same price we stayed in a charming old lumber company town. The proprietress, Robert and Nancy, were extremely service-oriented and helpful, helping us find a few nice hikes in the area. They offer a complimentary glass of wine in... More

First visit was last Fall w/friends...most recent visit for 45th Anniversary and plan to go back this Fall. Very relaxing, Innkeepers are so friendly. and the rooms very comfortable. Had a glass of wine and read our Kindles out on the porch w/resident cat...very peaceful. The granola and muffins/scones made by Nancy don't get any better and then you have... More

We enjoy the Portland to San Francisco drive but for the desert of boring roadside chain hotels. Nine miles east of Mt. Shasta we found this oasis of genteel hospitality in a beautifully restored early 20th century hotel. Included is a delicious breakfast featuring freshly baked pastries. Plan your travel for nights they serve dinner, otherwise better dining is in... More
