Driving to Portland or Seattle from the Bay Area? Take time to treat yourself to an overnight at this wonderful hotel just nine miles off Interstate 5 on Highway 89. The sign outside reads “Historic Hospitality” which is exactly what the innkeepers deliver: beautifully decorated rooms, a gathering area with comfortable chairs, books and magazines, and fire place, wine in... Wow! This is a nice B & B, reasonably priced at $128. to $200. The rooms are big and in period decoration at the early part of 1900's. It has 16 rooms and the building is about 25,000 square feet for those who care. The innkeepers, Robert and Nancy Short know how to run an inn, with previous experience of... More

The McCloud Hotel is a wonderful old building, a former dormitory for mill workers, that is well maintained, remodeled and nicely decorated and furnished. With creaky and pretty floors in the hallways the rooms are differently sized and each one quite different, but all very comfortably furnished. The baths are not as nice as the big baths at the Mercantile... More

Our experience at this historic hotel was superb from start to finish. After being warmly greeted by Robert, we settled into our spacious and well appointed room. Dinner at the Hotel was most tasty (rib eye and their unique pot roast) and the gingerbread desert to die for. We were fortunate to dine in the garden -- very special. Breakfast... More

We did not stay here, but had dinner. I think that the best way to describe our experience is that it was an amateur effort. The owner, who had to serve that evening, was as nice as could be, but her attempts at baking (bread and pie) are not good. Neither of our entrees, prepared by an unnamed chef, were... More

We are very sorry for the disappointing experience these diners had. We agree that the chicken was undercooked. We offered to cook it again, but at that point it was late and the guests were clearly unhappy. We had a very difficult evening as a whole, with both our servers calling out and me (one of the owners) waiting tables.... More

Last month my wife, 15-month-old daughter, and I stayed at the McCloud Inn. The owners were welcoming to us immediately. We had hoped to dine at the inn's restaurant that evening. Alas, our daughter was jet-lagged and unable to stay up past 5 pm. I told one of the owners about our need to cancel our dinner reservation in light... More

We spent two nights here just a few days ago and enjoyed it very much. The owners Robert and Nancy are very welcoming and personable. The hotel is very comfortable with lovely gardens and many places to sit outside. There are many nice touches that show the owners really care about the guests' experience and comfort. For example, a note... More

I usually don't stay at bed and breakfast hotels, but this experience changed my mind. The owners, Nancy and Robert, were very friendly, helpful, and service oriented. From the minute we checked in it was obvious that they wanted to make our stay something special. The hotel is very old and charming, the rooms were clean and well equipped (for... More

This place was fabulous. The owners, Robert and Nancy were both wonderful and helpful. The food was superb, the decor was period but not fussy and the gardens we're lovely. The room, we were in 206 was spacious and very comfortable. We peeked in a few others as we wee checking out and they looks equally lovely. The breakfast was... More

We enjoyed our stay here, breakfast was delicious, the room was spacious and comfortable, and the very small town is quiet and scenic, set with eye shot of Mt. Shasta and driving distance to Burney Falls and Lassen National Park. Our only disappointment was encountering a conference of Iranians from Orange County, who meet in McCloud each year. They were...
