We took this trip as a Christmas break and it wasn't dependent on there being snow. You can have a wonderful time in the Mc Cloud/Shasta area without snow in the winter. There is so much to do. We took an easy hike up Mt. Shasta, carefully walked on a frozen lake, drove around the other side of Shasta, went... More

We wanted to just get away. We do not ski, fish, hunt, hike, or bird-watch. We do like historical areas, good restaurants, and sites to see. We were not disappointed, and were we ever glad we stayed at the Mercantile Inn. We were welcomed like family and treated like family the entire time we were there. Kevin & his wife... More

Among the many choices in the Mt. Shasta area, we love staying at the Mercantile. The rooms are beautiful, large and nicely appointed. The beds are terrific. Kevin and Darlene, the ever-present owners, are committed to the satisfaction of their guests. We also have a dog, who is always welcome. More

I travel a lot for business. This was for vacation. I loved this place. It was not just the rustic room, that was big a clean, but mostly the service from Kevin, the owner. He made the entire stay enjoyable. More

My fiance and I decided to start a new tradition together this year and planned a Christmas get away. Neither of us had ever been to the Mt. Shasta area and we wanted a white Christmas. After looking a a bunch of reviews and inns online, we decided on the McCloud Mercantile Hotel. It had everything we could have asked... More

We wanted to stay somewhere off the "beaten path" of 1-5 and saw this hotel on the internet. We were really pleased with our choice. We stayed in the Friday George Room. We had a great view of Mt. Shasta from our room. It was such a peaceful overnight stay. Followed by a great breakfast included in the price of... More

After an unplanned sidetrip to Lassen Volcanic Nat'l Park and Mt. Shasta, we looked for a place to stay overnight in McCloud via cell phones. To our surprise and delight, our late arrival was handled with room keys taped to the hotel entrance door! This old hotel is beautifully restored with every room unique and beautifully appointed... LARGE rooms with... More

My boyfriend and I randomly stopped in McCloud last year while driving from LA to Portland and stumbled upon this gem of a town and B&B. The rooms are all so cozy and you can tell every single detail has been thought out with love and care. It is a place where you just want to keep coming back to... More

Only 10 miles off I-5 and well worth stopping here. A wonderfully well-appointed, immaculate, and spacious room. Had everything we could hope for and was much better than the chain hotels we stayed in during rest of the trip. The breakfast (included) in the cafe was delicious. Had a comfort station/kitchen-like area with microwave, etc. for the guests which was... More

My husband and stayed two nights for our anniversary in October. The hotel was quite nice: well appointed, clean, and friendly. Breakfast in the downstairs cafe was convenient and delicious. The town of McCloud is much quieter than Mt Shasta and Dunsmuir, but only 10 minutes from their great restaurants. I would recommend the McCloud Mercantile to anyone looking for... More
