If you're looking for a luxury hotel, this isn't for you. However, if you're looking for an inexpensive base from which to explore Yosemite, then this should do the trick. Rooms were perfectly nice, good, free wifi is a big bonus. Breakfast was limited but again, fine for what it is. Around 50 mins drive from Yosemite Park entrance (Arch... More

We were just looking for a 1 night stop before heading into Yosemite for the day, the monarch as perfect very nice clean room, quick breakfast, outdoor pool, good value. Mariposa is also a lovely little town, very friendly, brilliant for one night. I wouldn't spend a long time there but for a quick stop couldn't have found better.

The room was clean, but very outdated and broken furniture. There was a major leak in the bathroom sink. I was brushing my teeth and was wondering why my feet where getting wet. I looked and there was water all over the floor. The was a hole in the pipe. Had to use the garb. can to catch the water,... More

The hotel was okay. You get what you pay for, a bed and a continental breakfast. The only problem I had was there were no towels in our room and no soaps or shampoos and that is something they rave about on their website, stating you get name brand soaps and shampoos, not that we really needed it but if... We arrived at the Monarch due to a mix up with our travel agent meaning our initial hotel had not been booked. When we got there, around 9:30pm, we interrupted the lady on reception having a telephone call. She then proceeded to tell us that we could not check in as our stay was not paid for, despite us having... More

My friends and I absolutely wanted to go to Yosemite National Park before leaving the US, but the only weekend we were available was for 4th of July. We thought that he would be impossible to plan something at the last minute but it was actually pretty easy. We found this hotel that was on our way and not so... More

The town of Mariposa is tiny. It is mostly hotels and restaurants as it is the closest town to Yosemite outside of the park's immediate area. This hotel, which had mixed reviews, we found to be clean. It was a little pricey, but I guess it is due it's location. They are pet friendly with a reasonable $20 pet fee,... More

This is not a Hotel you want to stay at. I was not expecting much since it was formerly a Best Western but It was really sub-par. The management seemed very rude, no name badges and no hospitality. The seemed very defensive about everything we inquired about. The room smelled like Body Odor. The sheets were fine but it was... More

I wish I had read online reviews before booking! Our negative experience on our 2nd honeymoon began the moment we walked in the lobby door. I booked online & verified my reservation and online special of book at least 2 summer nights for a 1/2 off night during a winter stay. Management emailed confirmation of reservation and special. My wife... More

I stayed there with some friends for one night (we shared a bedroom with two queen beds). I was a bit worried about the noise when the lady at the reception explained that the room was right at the front side of the hotel, but either we were super tired from the hikes in Yosemite or the lady was sincere...
