My wife and I gambled on staying in Manhattan Beach whilst in SoCal. It was an unfamiliar name (not like oft quoted locations like Santa Monica, Malibu or Redondo) but seemed to be mentioned often in positive reviews by those in the know. Manhattan Beach itself is a great place to locate if the attraction of LA and the shoreline... More

My husband and I stayed in the Shade Hotel for one night in May. We were on our way back from Tahiti, and wanted to rest up for a day, before jumping a flight to NY. Knowing it was a boutique hotel, I was worried that we wouldn't be able to get into our room early. (Our red-eye landed 6... More

Really enjoyed my brief 1 night visit here last week. This is attention to detail at its finest and how a hotel stay should be. Reservations and check-in were prompt and professional. Room was decked out in goodies (loved the cake pop by the bedside) including the nicest Keurig you've ever seen. Loved the stone floor in the soaker shower... More

This is by far the best hotel in MB or any hotel along the beach line including those in Santa Monica. If you like the finer things in life this is deff. A must stay resort. It is right by the beach 3 blocks away ish and is close to lots of shopping and all other amenities. The only thing... More

If you're looking for the best hotel in Manhattan Beach, look no further! This is a beautiful luxury boutique hotel located right next to all of the things that make MB so great. The room is beautifully decorated and includes a comfy bed, keurig, jacuzzi tub, centrally controlled lighting and a small balcony. Wi-fi is free and available throughout the... More

I flew into LA for business on Friday. I finished late on Sunday and did not want to take the red eye back east. The Shade Hotel was a perfect one night stay on Sunday evening. I was in the center of Manhattan Beach close to the beach. The room was well appointed. The most outstanding feature was the Temperpedic... More

Very hip, great location, excellent service and a kick butt breakfast, and only 10 minutes to LAX. Also, a very comfy bed. Would definitely stay here again next time i am traveling on business in the LA area.

it's super cool and chic, not too big. Great bar and restaurant. the best bit is the room itself. A huge hot tub in the centre of the room and uber cool bathroom... they have thought of everything and the evening turndown service means you enter your room before going to sleep to soul music and special lighting. I would... More

We stayed here for a night in April and really enjoyed our overall experience. The hotel itself is quite boutique -- the rooms were good. The best part about our room was the tempurpedic beds -- they were so comfortable, I really wanted to get one for our own home. I still cannot stop thinking about how comfortable the bed... More

I recently took my son to the VMAs and wanted to stay somewhere small that felt luxurious. I love the feel of Manhattan Beach, so even though not on the beach, the hotel is well situated on a walking promenade near all of the restaurants and shops. The hotel lobby and the room had that wow factor. Impeccably decorated with... More
