My husband and I enjoyed the amazing people watching while strolling through the cool boutique shops and walking miles of beach. The hotel itself I thought was ok. However it did not impress for the price. Rooms were very dark and seemed a little dated. There is a huge soaking tub which kind of bothered me given the drought we... More

I loved this hotel. It was breathtaking. The rooms were awesome and everything was beautiful. Our firm party was held here and I stayed a couple days after. It was the perfect distance from the beach and the local shops were the best. The bed was one of the best I've had the chance to sleep in. I truly enjoyed... More

I loved my room at the Shade- It was very quiet. High quality linens- I melted in the bed. The problem? The Hotels sales staff thinks that it's a GREAT idea to sell the bar out to a networking event with 250 plus people- Seriously? Yes, They let them take over the entire lobby & bar such that I had... Every detail of our stay was thoughtfully looked after from the friendly valet and efficient reception/check-in, to the beautifully appointed room where everything works perfectly. love the great shower and spa tub, and fabulous bed and great linens and pillows, and the private balcony, and the fresh fruit and smoked salmon breakfast buffet in the morning. All the staff were... More

Not that Manhattan Beach needs an oasis by any means, but this hotel is the bomb. Really cool lounge, wonderful service, good food, and just blocks from the beach. I've been here twice, they do not disappoint. The gas "tube" fireplace is an especially neat feature, but if you've got a 3rd person with you (our teenager was with us... More

I have stayed at this hotel three different times. I fell in love with it because it is in great location, has excellent staff, and cool / hip architectural design. No wonder they sell out all the time. Make sure to plan ahead if you want to stay here.

I found Shade Hotel through Tripadvisor. It is located in Manhattan Beach just a few miles from the Los Angeles Airport. You do not even have to go on the Freeway to get to and fro. The location of the hotel is just a few blocks away from Manhattan Beach pier. The hotel is in a quiet location, touching a... More

I am not sure who thought that putting a nightclub in a small hotel was a good idea. But if you want to sleep, avoid this place like the plague on Friday and Saturday nights. They have a DJ on those nights who plays electro pop music in the bar at top volume. Our room was about as far as... More

Hello, I first want to express my sincerest apologies for your experience at Shade Hotel. I can imagine how frustrating it must have been to enjoy your time with us only to be disturbed by the music in our lounge. We recently had a new performer join our team and the first weekend he played, unbeknownst to us, he brought... More

Myself and my girlfriend gave this hotel a 5 star mainly because of room, property and location. Rooms - Were wonderful! Big rooms, clean, romantic, very cool layout! Very impressed with the rooms. Soaker tub in the middle of room, fireplace - all lights and fireplace could be controlled by switches near the door. Housekeeping - were great and very... More

I stayed during an unexpected layover in LA (didn't want to stay in the hotel paid for by American Airlines). The room was really nice and had quirky amenities. The light controls were kind of a pain and I had to unplug electronics to actually make the room dark. The bed could stand to be more comfortable, but I really... More
