We booked this place last minute because all of the camping areas were full (we didn't realize you need to reserve a camping spot 48 hours in advance - oops!) The front desk lady was nice and gave us a AAA discount and then furthered the discount again when we asked her for a place to eat and she recommended... More

Worst place ever. A total dump. Looks like something out of 'Psycho'. The Female Manager (daughter of the owner) also must be out of Psycho. When I showed up today with my wife for Valentine's day with a fully paid for confirmed reservation she said, 'too bad', there were no rooms. They were over-booked, blamed it on Expedia and slammed... More

The windows would not close and the window blinds were broken. Stains on the wall. Shower area was really bad. The room was really old and shabby. The traffic noise kept us awake. The internet was supplied but I had to go to the office area to get reception. The sheets and towels were clean which is all I can... More

I accidentally booked this place thinking it was the Malibu Country Inn around the corner - where I had stayed before and had a good experience. All prepaid on Expedia though, so by the time I realized my mistake, it was too late. I read the reviews though and saw a mix of opinions, so I hoped for the best.... More

We were delighted by this funky, old school motel (one of the first to be built on Pacific Coast Highway). What it lacks in amenities like air conditioning it makes up for in charm and history. We were told that Marilyn Monroe slept here (with whom we know not), and Bob Dylan spent several months year composing "Blood on the... More

My Grandfather lived above Paradise Cove in Malibu, California. My 11 year old Daughter & I traveled from Las Vegas, Nevada for 2nd Anniversary of his deah. This was closest motel & best price. Employees were very friendly & shared neat history of place when I booked room & changed reservation. I love Marilyn Monroe & booked room she stayed... More

My boyfriend and I recently took a trip to Malibu and had the pleasure of stumbling upon this little motel... It felt like a perfect combination of beach motel and cabin in the woods and I fell in love with it! I agree with Ann S. about it being old school from the 40's but that's part of what makes... Picked this place because it was on the Pacific Coast Highway, getting late and they had a room available. Quaint, but close to being a dump which is a shame because the place looks like it has great bones. A bit run down, but everthing was workable and basically clean, but not immaculate. Glad for the tile floors in the... More

Stayed at this nightmarish skid row crack motel and I had to get completely intoxicated into an oblivion to fall asleep on the filthy springy mattress. Then I woke up and the nightmare began again. As I stepped into the broken trickling shower trying to wash them scum off my body from the bed my shower quickly turned into a... More

Staying in Malibu

Neighborhood Profile
The Malibu coastline is like a chameleon. In some areas it resembles the French Riviera with its lush, green hillsides descending into crescent-shaped shorelines. In others, it feels 100% Southern Californian with beaches wide and flat as a football field, and often crowded with beach-goers lounging on towels and playing volleyball. Other coastlines still feel secluded, tucked under tall cliffs and dotted with stunning rock formations. In certain areas, where the ocean waves are just right, surfers can be seen bobbing in the water. Up in the mountains to the east hikers take in truly stunning views of the ocean and the sprawling Los Angeles landscape. And along Pacific Coast Highway, restaurants are filled with visitors and locals from all walks of life. Stumble into the right place at the right time, and you’ll likely encounter a celebrity.
