My 16 year old son and I spent one night here and it was magical! The location is wonderful and there were many nearby food options. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Our room had a gorgeous view. Both of us spent time in front of the window watching the waves. We enjoyed the chairs that were provided for... More

My friend and I stayed here for 1 night. I've backpacked all around the world and our room was equivalent to a private room at a nice hostel. This is not a HOTEL! The bed was pretty comfortable but slightly hard. The walls were thin and I had to turn on the fan for white noise because I kept on... More

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights and really enjoyed it. The staff were amazing and really helpful. The location is perfect and it is right smack dab on the beach. This is a cute little boutique hotel in the heart of Venice Beach. We didn't take advantage of the kitchenette ourselves, but it is a great bonus... More

Spent 2 nights enjoying the sights, restaurant on Venice beach. The hotel is being renovated but did not affect our stay at all!! Rooms are great, small kitchen area, very tiny bathroom and takes awhile for the hot water to hit the shower but very hot when it shows up!! Beds are a bit hard for my taste and they... More

From the moment we arrived (way early 830am ) the whole experience was fantastic. Matt checked us in and gave us an awesome room and let us in our room right then. He is a great dude and was very helpful. The whole colorful scene in Venice is like no other place, we want more!!! This hotel had everything we... More

VBS&Hotel was the perfect hotel in the perfect location for me. Right on the beach? check. Great little room with a view of the beach? check. Fantastic staff service despite a rainy day and construction? check. Great value for money? check. Cannot recommend this hotel enough or its location. Easy options for inexpensive bus transportation to take to downtown, santa... More

How or where can I begin? This hotel is right in the heart of Venice beach... in sunny California! Now I know why the beach boys wrote cool songs that about this place(and the girls there)...or the late tupac(and many others) kept rapping about it(overall California that is)! The beach is right in front of this hotel...everyday....every night...with it's colorful... More

This is a great primer for what to expect from our historic beach-front hotel, with cool pics attached as well. The only point I would counter with is that our housekeepers are top-notch and have all been with us for years; they're trust-worthy, dependable and kind. Everything else is good advice! More

First thing I'll say about this place is that we arrived at around 9.30am after 16 hours on a plane, and they checked us in to a room straight away. Legends. Initially I was a bit put off by the homeless people in the area (note I'd never been to LA before) so I was a bit dubious, but truth... More

I have to say, I was a bit hesitant to stay right on the boardwalk on Venice Beach, because of the hub bub and things you hear about the homeless... but it was a perfect stay and we had a lot of fun. My husband and I stayed for 2 nights before going on a cruise out of Long Beach with... More

Staying in Venice

Neighborhood Profile
Venice
Venice has always danced to its own beat as the epicenter of bohemian culture in Los Angeles. Along the boardwalk there are street performers and local craftsmen selling their wares. Original paintings, souvenirs, and jewelry are on display. Crowds of visitors marvel at the sites while weightlifting enthusiasts pump iron in plain view, and skateboarders do their tricks around the skate park. All of it happens under the warm California sun with sprawling views of sand and sea. Heading east, the main drags of Abbot Kinney Boulevard and Main Street are lined with boutique shops, some major retail stores, art galleries and restaurants. Here the ambiance is more relaxed and upscale than the frenetic boardwalk area. Venice is a mostly walkable (and certainly bikeable) neighborhood, full of areas to explore.
