Although my wife and I checked in at 2AM, the room was well situated on the 6th floor, northside, with a great view of the Pacific, Venice, and all along the hills to the HOLLYWOOD sign. Having a a walk out terrace with the room was a perk. Breakfast the next morning at HASH, the inhouse restaurant was superb, and... More

The only bad thing I can say is that we only stayed for one night en route to Vegas. From check in until check out everything was perfect. I have stayed before when it was a Best Western and they have made massice improvements. Loved it and will return for a longer stay.

I reviewed this hotel on line and ordered room on line. Paid extra for "premium" room w/ocean front view. Manager put me in ocean view room, i.e., side view of ocean. When I complained, he told me the only front view was on low floor which wouldn't see ocean due to building in front of hotel. So, had no choice... More

The only good thing about this hotel ws the friendly staff. The worst thing about the hotel were the bathroom doors. They had sliding doors which don't shut all the way so others in the room can easily see into the toilet/shower area of the bathroom. So if you like your privacy...stay away from this hotel. The t.v in my... More

This is not a hotel that just offers you a room and professional service. This is a hotel that also provides a cool atmosphere and personal service that makes you say "perfect!" Venice Beach has a unique culture of the colorful and bizarre. I want my hotel to have the color, but not the bizarre. The Erwin scored with a... More

So I had a going away party here for my girlfriend and she LOVED this place. The rooftop bar is without compare in Venice or in Santa Monica. We had a great oceanfront room and woke up to the relative calm of Venice Beach before the tourists and shopkeepers showed up. Venice isn't for everyone but it makes for a... More

My husband and I stay at Joie de Vivre hotels often, but this is our first time here, It has a good beach location, but the front desk crew may have some kind of plan to divert you to a lower priced room. We had reserved a premium king ocean view many months ago, but upon our arrival we were... More

Hotel Erwin has it all! A stellar location, literally steps to the boardwalk, amazing rooms that are unique and homey all at the same time. The service was excellent, the staff anticipated every possible need and were really friendly and likable. There are not enough words to describe the rooftop bar, you have to see it to really appreciate it!

Awesome Place! Stayed here with a group of friends for a birthday. All of my friends thought the hotel was great and that the staff was so welcoming and helpful (which was nice b/c it was my idea to stay at the hotel). The rooftop bar 'high lounge' was really nice to watch the sunset and was a fun way... More

My friends and I stayed at the Dogtown Suite for a birthday celebration. The room is epic! It captures the essence of the location. The white walls, immense space, and high wooden roof is exactly what you'd like to expect from a beachfront abode. However this place has a great kick of style with its clearly skateboard culture inspired decorations... More

Staying in Venice

Neighborhood Profile
Venice
Venice has always danced to its own beat as the epicenter of bohemian culture in Los Angeles. Along the boardwalk there are street performers and local craftsmen selling their wares. Original paintings, souvenirs, and jewelry are on display. Crowds of visitors marvel at the sites while weightlifting enthusiasts pump iron in plain view, and skateboarders do their tricks around the skate park. All of it happens under the warm California sun with sprawling views of sand and sea. Heading east, the main drags of Abbot Kinney Boulevard and Main Street are lined with boutique shops, some major retail stores, art galleries and restaurants. Here the ambiance is more relaxed and upscale than the frenetic boardwalk area. Venice is a mostly walkable (and certainly bikeable) neighborhood, full of areas to explore.
