The Sportsmen's Lodge is an older hotel that has been updated with a trendy, chic vibe. They are obviously capitalizing on its Hollywood history. The lobby has a cool, 1960's feel, with classic movies shown on a giant tv screen. The room was clean and serviceable. Nothing too special, but comfortable. The walls were a bit thin, and I could... Stayed there for 2 day while on a business/pleasure trip. Spouse worked, while I hung out at the pool :) I needed a hotel in the area that was reasonably priced yet nice. Check in- The check in was fast and efficient. As a matter of fact, I asked for a room facing the pool and got one. I wanted... More

Although this wouldn't be categorized as luxury stay, the Sportsmen Lodge is a quiet hotel with a unique Hollywood history and outstanding pool area. We were a little worried about what our room would look like after checking in; The reception area is nice and has been updated but the carpet in the interior hallways is old (circa 1970, pea... Not what I expected for an updated hotel or should I say motel...i found it very non frills with dirty carpeting in the hallway. Trying a little too hard to be Madmen style. I did find the staff friendly and helpful though.

From the moment of interaction with the Sportsmen’s Lodge I’ve had only smooth sailing. A week before I arrived the Hotel sent an email about all the pre-arrival services and guest amenities. This email was full of hints and tips, but the one that struck me the most was the free bus that goes to and from Universal Studios, how... More

I checked in for a three day stay in June. My initial impressions were guarded - the lobby was fine (a bit retro) but the hallways leading to the room feel really tired and motel like. Upon entering the room I was also put off by its spare and dated feel. Also, the cot placed in the room was so... More

Friends had recommended this hotel, but we found it to be pretty average and while expensive for what you get, maybe that's the going rate for LA. We arrived on a Sunday afternoon wanting to nap before evening activities, only to find a pool DJ blasting music throughout the hotel making sleep - or anything else - impossible. We immediately... Stayed here for 3 nights- lovely modern hotel with a touch of history to it. Rooms are sleek and modern and the staff are extremely helpful and polite. The Patio Cafe is great too - serves lovely breakfasts. They arrange shuttle buses from the hotel to take you to Universal Studios which is really handy. Only bad point is that... More

The room was sleek and modern and nicely sized. Not much of a view but we were on the top floor (5). The front desk staff was nice and welcoming and the lobby is clean and pretty. I find it odd they don't have ramps to roll your bags down anywhere and you must carry them up and down. We... More

Went up to LA this past weekend to see some family and have a nice little weekend getaway. They were running a special so we decided to stay here and it was a really good choice. Our room was excellent, they have a really nice pool and the staff is nice. You are really close to everything in Hollywood, not... More
