I made a reservation for a delegation from China. On the website, it shows $93/person/night, including 2 Universal Studio tickets and breakfast. However, when they checked out, the bill listed tickets and room rate separated. The ticket prices were higher than what we can buy at the door and we could get better room rate than that. I stayed a... more

My wife and I, along with our 3 children, ages 12,11, and 8 stayed at the Sportsmen's Lodge for 3 nights in late June while visiting the LA area. I really have mixed feelings about the place. Overall, I would say I enjoyed our stay, but there are some aspects about this hotel that one should be aware of. The... more

We were here for business and friends. I was very disturbed when checking in on Saturday night. The hotel's crowd seemed like something between a swinger scene and a biker bar, complete with inebriated older women hitting on older men. That's not what you want with little kids. It was very disconcerting and upsetting. The pool water was very murky.... more

Two hundred twenty-two dollars for a glorified Motel 6 room...I am afraid you have lost it. You charged ten dollars for diagonal, outside parking. For this, I need a drink. However, you only have one bar (pool bar). You also have no decent restaurant on the premises. So you charge for your rooms like The Four Seasons and you deliver... more

We were "upgraded" upon our arrival to poolside. Little did we know that there would be people sitting at tables ten feet from our sliding door talking loudly for hours. The worse part was the series of live lounge singers with electric guitars and amplified music - at "POOLSIDE" who sang REALLY LOUD until 11 pm. (It was a Friday... more

Had a four night stay here for a business trip and it was a great experience. Reasonable rates and good service all round from friendly staff. A great casual atmosphere. Only drawback is that there is not much to do in the immediate surrounding area of the hotel, but if you're just looking for a base from which to discover... more

Me and my Wife stayed at this three star hotel for four night in January 2009 and was good value for money at $80 (£60) a night. It was close to Universal studios of which the hotel runs a courtesy bus and only 6 miles from Hollywood boulevard ($15 in a taxi) with the hotels there costing three times as... more

I have to say that the Sportsmen's Lodge Hotel was one of the most comfortable "down to earth" places I have ever stayed. There is a certain benevolent feeling about the place. That lodge feeling allows you to forget that you are in the heart of the city. It feels more like you are out in the country somewhere. The rooms... more

I had a very positive experience. It was a very busy weekend and the rooms were pretty booked. The room that was to be ours was not vacated until very late. The excellent desk clerk offered to find us another room and made sure that we were happy. In all, the staff were very polite and helpful and it was... more
