I stayed here for one night on a Saturday. The hotel is close to many cool restaurants within walking distance. Parking is about $42, expensive so we parked a block away, overnight charge was only $10. The property is very nice and the room was nice and clean too. The beds were super comfortable! The only thing that I did... More

This property has a great history in the downtown area of LA. Presently very well managed as a Hilton property. It is a boutique hotel so don't expect huge lobbies and many restaurants. We had a small but exceptionally well presented room with high quality linen and a very comfortable bed. Our room had two large windows with a view... More

The Hilton Checkers is in a great location in downtown LA and makes it easy to walk to restaurants and other night spots. Positives: Nice Rooms, comfortable beds, coffee in AM, friendly staff, quick check-in, LOCATION! Negatives: Expensive parking, small rooms, no concierge room Nice spot downtown but it is not like a normal upscale city Hilton.

My husband and I stayed at the Hilton checkers for 4 nights , part business and pleasure. Hotel staff was very nice and helpful. Food (restaurant and room service) was very good. Water Grill restaurant across the street was very good. Starbucks down the street. Good location - short walk to subway - easy to navigate around. The rooms are... More

Had a great weekend at Checkers! The location is awesome...the rooftop deck is even better, complete with a pool and jacuzzi! The staff is also very helpful and accommodating. I celebrated a birthday and Rene at the front desk sent up a complimentary bottle of wine and a plate of cheese and crackers! It was an unexpected surprise! fabulous hotel!

The rooftop, pool deck view from this hotel is the best kept secret in L.A. You can even order drinks and meals from room service up there. The staff is as good as service gets, the way it should be in a European-style boutique hotel. The rooms are plush, elegant, inviting, and very, very comfortable. The restaurant is an attraction... Just back from two nights at the Checkers. Nothing to say other than it is clean, comfortable and charming. The staff was invariably helpful and the location was perfect for my visit. I stayed there two years ago and was not impressed. Things have improved.

Needed to be close and with in walking distance of the Walt Disney Concert Hall, first time in 20 years I have stayed in downtown LA. This hotel is a Art Deco gem! Everything about this boutique hotel ticks all the right boxes, location, rooms, the roof top spa and pool with downtown views. The staff are friendly, warm, approachable... More

The Good: Great Location. Great Restaurant. Slept like a rock. The Average: Very small rooms, took 5 minutes to get hot water, had to move the coffee pot into the Bathroom to get a good plug, and they gave you the average Hilton bathroom condiments (I never use them but I was expecting something else) and some of the finishes... Thank you for the insightful feedback regarding your recent stay. Although it is disappointing to hear we did not go above your expectations. Especially in regards to the in room amenities. In an effort to offer consistent services and amenities across the brand, Hilton Hotels dictates what amenities hotels are to offer. Luckily Hilton selected a line from Peter Thomas... More

The staff was great and we enjoyed the location. We did not have a car but were able to walk to our concert at Staples Center/LA Live in addition to restaurants, stores and other attractions. The rooftop pool is small but it is a pretty cool space with a great view and sun in the morning. We only ate breakfast... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown Los Angeles is a busy metropolis of towering buildings, bustling streets, and industrial warehouses. There is a distinct multiplicity of cultures here with a growing influx of business professionals and hipsters. Many call the evolution of Downtown over recent years gentrification. New lofts, bars, hotels and restaurants are popping up regularly. Downtown is home to some of the very best restaurants in the city leading the LA foodie scene, plus it is the location of cultural and sports venues including the Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Staples Center, and the Coliseum at the University of Southern California.
