We enjoyed our 3 day stay at The Hilton Checkers. It is a smaller hotel and we preferred that to a much bigger hotel like the Westin Bonaventure. For downtown I think it is a good choice. Took an hour to park due to bad instructions from front desk. Pool was closed till 5pm and when I went up at 7 for a dip the tiny space was covered in cigarette butts, beer bottles and trash. As I've written elsewhere, you don't go to downtown LA to stay in the hotels. I stayed at Checkers for the first time, looking for an alternative to the Biltmore. If you are working downtown this is a really nice place to stay. I have stayed in nicer hotels, but this has to be the cleanest hotel I have ever set foot in. The staff was great. more
